Superjack Actuator

Well unfortunately it didn’t quite go to plan :mad:

A good tight fit on the serrated shaft but the split is still there between the teeth, infact there are two now



It looks like the gear, although small, is moulded in different sections with a small space, probably for expansion between the centre collar and the outer 20 tooth gear ring piece.

When it spins the teeth do not engage properly with the vertical worm which has the circular magnet on top and this is enough to stop the actuator.



After many nights of 'goggling' I have bought a spare part for a model car which has a similar outer diameter and number of teeth although the centre will have to be carefully drilled out by another mm.




Until this arrives, or anyone has any other thoughts, I think I will content myself by servicing the rest of the actuator.

Absolutely gutted for you mate ..
I've just been up in my loft and rescued an old superjack I had up there ..hopeful that it might be the same as yours ..
Just shows you how things change over the years ..
Same brand ...different style of operation ..and different gearing ..
There doesn't look to be anything comparable ..
..I throw nowt away ..thinking one day ..I'm gonna need it..

Yip, different gearing, Gilly limit switches two compared to a double etc...

The motor, magnet and reed pcb look the same though ......I will keep that in mind when I break one of those!!

Hopefully that gear I ordered will arrive tomorrow and with a little modding should do the job.

Hi guys, just a quick update on this thread.

My Superjack actuator is now once again working and driving my dish

For anyone else who experiences this problem of a broken nylon cog/gear there is a solution.

A Traxxas TRA4196 will do as a suitable replacement. It can be picked-up cheaply and has a similar outer diameter (17.5mm) with 20 teeth. It does however need the shaft diameter to be drilled out from the original 5mm to 6.5mm to fit.
