Just taken delivery of a 39" JVC Full HD Smart TV.

Well, I say JVC, but the system info shows it as Currys-Vestel, perhaps unsurprisingly :rolleyes:

Anyhow, it was down to 270 sovs which is a good match for a Yorkshireman's shallow pockets :D

Got it set up just so and tried all the various catch-up services.

Just finished as SWMBO got home. She likes it.

So do I :Y

"Smart" TVs seem to have a habit of becoming stupid and unable to use an updated version of a catch-up service.

Pleased, well count your blessings, went to the outside freezer this afternoon to find that after 40 years good service it has given up the ghost. I have been cooking ever since ......... Had I thought about it I could have gone up to Curries and picked one up for £99.99, will do tomorrow to put the cooked stuff in when cool. Could have been worse it could have happened whilst away, but it must have expired on bank holiday monday evening as it was definitely working Monday afternoon

I'm still annoyed that I can't use this "Fastext" system on the TV any more.

Haha yes I am sorry some threads tend to have amorphous qualities, I am pleased that Mrs Lazarus is pleased with her new TV. I feel embarrassed at the moment, having poached 16lb of salmon, cooked 2lb of mincement, 8 chicken breasts, various other bits and bobs, late on I was wondering what to do with the rest of this 'feast' once cooled down as our indoor fridge is not over large and decided that I would switch on the spare fridge in the garage that we only use when family are over. Went to switch it on and discovered that the plug of the freezer was 2mm out of the socket and wiggling it out of the socker and the freezer fired up. In hindsight on bank holiday Monday, I had moved a large piece of wood that had walked it's way out of the side of the freezer into my path (presumably the vibrations) and I just pushed it back, never realized that in doing so I had tensioned the cable and pulled the plug by 2mm. Ah well it has had a good defrost and we have not lost a lot, just some frozen soups where the bag leaked, but oh the freezer cleaning out and sterilising plus washing up went on until 2am. So to quote some Frankenstein film from the 30s 'it's alive, it's alive' yes the 40 year old freezer lives to freeze another day and as a bonus I have the £100 notes for a freezer to spend on my jollies next week.
 
We've all done daft things like that :D
 
I did that back in Lancashire, absent-mindedly unplugged the mini-chest freezer (about the size of a regular under-counter fridge) out in the workshop to use the socket for a drill, forgot to plug it back in, a few days later (bearing in mind this was summertime) there was an almighty stink out there, everything had defrosted and started to rot...... :-doh

Wasn't fun clearing THAT out I'll tell ya!! :wacko:

Did you check any dates to see what the oldest item in the freezer is, I'm always shocked when I've emptied mine and found things many years old :D

Dating individual items just gives the police a better chance of a conviction.
 
Just make sure someone eats the evidence first...

Well it was not even a year as we tend to migrate items from the garage freezer every so often so it was actually only 8 months, as for the frozen apple and frozen rhubard, they were definitely 2 years old but come to no harm being just fruit, sugar and water

Ah it will be fine, I know someone who had 20 year old food frozen and still ate it! They are in their late 80s now.

Yes first principles, I know :-doh but in reality it was not obvious that it was out by 2mm and I did not have my glasses on so would not have noticed 2 mm without them, that's my excuse and I am sticking to it and SWMBO cannot say anything as she was with me when this happened and she did not notice either:oops:
