Hi guys...
Can anybody give me a difinitive answer..what are the symptoms of a failing LNB?..I'm getting a lot of breakup on my signal, especially the HD channels on S*Y...I'm CS and there is no problem on the 13 and 19 sats...at first I thought it was my dish alignment but I'm 100% sure my alignment is spot on..my current LNB is a cheapie inverto .3 which I picked up in Poland a few yrs back so I'm wondering if it was a dodgy one to begin with (only cost 5 Euro!!) any ideas would be most apreciated as usual..cheers
gandalf..

Usually you lose either Band or Polarity switching (or both!)

Just whack a spare on and prove whether it is the LNB or not.

You do have a spare, don't you ............... ? !

The fact that there is no problem on 13E or 19.2E suggests you have a different problem, though: Pole or some other mechanical part slipped a tad out of true?

there could be a lot of problems.
how long is the coax and how many years has it been running??
if water has wicked in by the lnb side it could be causing a attinuation.
since a lnb costs about 5 euro i say swap it.
if you still have problems the coax can attinuate the 14v/18v dc for the vert/horz pol causing the lnb to switch back and forth.
new lnb will eather slove the problem or it will still be there.
if you are sure the receiver is ok i have seen a cold soulder joint on a receiver were the tuner conects to the coax to power up the lnb and that was a tough problem, the lnb power came and went.
i am sure is the dish is alingned ok then after the lnb next is the cable.
keep us informed
ralph:)
