T&K Bracket question

Hi,

I am about to reinstall my Penta 85 dish but I have a question regarding the T&K brackets. Which way around should they go? Whenever I've done installations in the past, the K always went at the top and T at the bottom.

However, looking at many pictures on this forum, the K seems to go at the bottom. Is there any practical reason to put one above the other?

I will use it to hold two dishes - one Sky minidish at the bottom, between the T and the K, and the Penta dish put higher, which I need for clearance for 53e. Will not be in an exposed location, so not too worried about winds.

The correct way taking weight and wind loading into consideration is fitting the T at the top but... you can install the K at the top also. What is more important is the spacing of brackets which should be 500mm minimum and wall fixings used. Installing a K & K arrangement would also be worth considering for heavy loads.
 
Thanks for that. I actually have 2 sets of 18" T&K brackets, so definitely a possibility.

Sadly, the whole thing has to go on the front of the house on the 1st floor (2nd floor is timber framed, lined with plasterboard), so need to make it look as pretty as possible!
 
As Satelliteman says, the correct way is T at top, K at bottom being the main support for the weight of the rig, whereas the T is technically only required to prevent movement in the horizontal plane. Having said that, I will often fit two Ks, as the additional bolt fixing cannot do any harm.:)
 
Best way is to keep going until you run out of Rawl Bolts, or Brackets, or Wall :)

I guess you mean the Top One ? - the weight is on the Bottom K and I just wanted to use it steady the Top of the Pole and keep the Bolts as far away from the Bottom K as possible.

So I flipped it over, just been out and checked, its still there, rocko solido.

Its all really preparation for next summer, that there motor dish is going up above the guttering so I can motor West.

You cant see the nice shiney Scaffold Pole laid on the floor, its a beauty :-rub
