Is Talking Pictures about to change their policy?

This channel has edited numerous programs, and films, especially for female nudity, even films shown after the supposed watershed, and added their own certifications, e.g. changing the lavender Hill Mob, a gentle comedy, from the original U classification, to a PG warning.

Now they are planning to show the 4 Confessions movies, on consectutive weekends, early Sunday morning, starting Sunday morning, 11th December, at 00:25, but will they show the original versions, or extremely edited versions?

I can't say either way about whether or not the Confessions films will be shown edited or not but my take on the PG classification for The Lavender Hill Mob is that it might be to do with outdated racial stereotypes and similar.

I can't remember anything racial, or controversial, in the Lavender Hill Mob, apart from Sid James's roll as a burglar. and the fact that it was based on a criminal enterprise. It had an all star cast, and was quite funny.

I can't think of anything either but I'm going on the warnings that they sometimes preface many other programmes such as Dial 999, Scotland Yard and the like.

The same 'warning' prefaced a repeat of an Endeavour episode the other night....

I think the warning for that one was "knowing". What I mean by that is that the episode was written to reflect the attitudes at the time the episode was set.

On Freeview it's HbbTV for the Talking Pictures streaming service. I think HbbTV does work on E2 but it may be restricted to specific Freeview STBs and televisions.

well, if it aint delivered by HBBTV, then i wonder how it is delivered - freeview is not freesat, maybe its just a freeview thing - but i dont have a genuine freesat box to check.

You can use the service, on their website, if you join, but equally, and probably a better option, is to search for the program online, you can find episodes of most classic television, including Rumpole of the bailey, Hazell, and numerous other television shows, and films, which are unedited, unlikle many versions, on Talking Pictures.

I couldn't find any HbbTV on 11582H 22000, and neither of my Freesat or Sky HD boxes show a red button prompt so I guess it's Freeview only.

Has Talking Pictures TV moved to the UK beam on 28.2E? Only receiving the European beam and this channel went to 'no satellite signal' over the weekend.

Thanks. I guess it must have gone to the UK beam then as part of the change, when I scan those parameters manually I just get 'no signal found'.

Yes 11344 V is on the UK beam on Astra 2F.
That's TV and That's 60s were moved from the European beam to the UK beam (11344 V) at the same time as Talking Pictures TV.

Thanks for the confirmation, it's an ever dwindling selection of channels apart from most of the paid Sky ones. Sometimes watched That's TV also but not often.

Mrs Martillo liked recording films from Talking Pictures onto the Sky+ drive and watching them whenever, there's a few left 'in stock' but it will have to be tptvencore now I suppose.

Why not check the internet, for older films, especially youtube, I downloaded My Man Godfrey, and other movies, off there.

Have a search through archive.org too - there are no end of reasonable old films squirrelled away in there

In recent days Ive spotted a considerable number of Terry-Thomas films, and the full Carry On archive.

Thanks I'll have a look at that. To be completely honest we were probably getting near to Talking Pictures saturation point, with more and more offerings already watched. One particular evening saw five deletions - start, seen in, delete; start, seen it, delete.....
