DMM wont get any money from me at that ridiculous price. Its no wonder there is a thriving clone market.

Yes, it has some nice features, but apart from being HD capable there is nothing that makes is much better than the DM 7025.

If someone needs wifi, you can make your box available over wireless for £20. As for DVD, I've ditched the rubbish player I have in favour of playing DVDs from my PC over LAN with the help of DreamDVD. The picture quality is much better.

Who the heck needs 4 CI slots and and 2 readers? 3 usb ports for what? Its not like you are going to connect your printer, scanner or whatever to your dreambox.

Yes, its handy to have all those extras, but the price hardly justifies it.

They are killing the goose that laid the golden egg at those prices.

When I eventually do go HD, which wont be for a few years, I'll be looking at alternatives like the AB Com IPBox 9000. HD is a joke anyway, they have been pushing the equipment on ill informed buyers for years, yet there is very little HD content available.

Yes I think Compunk hit the nail here.

Who will pay that amount for a box ?? and why ??

Plenty of new boxes on the market and there is also a few lurking around for a release anyday now.

So I wait

So what are the alternatives to the DM8000? If you are looking for a combined HD ready Sat/Cable PVR decoder +dvd player ?

the realbox avantgarde for e.g,but the price is the same!
but iam not sure, maybe the avantgarde will not support hd!

you can connect also a serial hd to dreambox 800,and record everything,so i see to reason, why i should spend more then the double price for a dm 800

it it to expensice for sure, production coasts, maybe only the half price, but there are many many buyers, that are willing to pay this price also!
and the other question could be,why currencly no other company,in the world, and bring a receiver for a better price, with nearly the same features?

this is not a easy projekt,to bring a receiver, worldwide in nearly every continent!
the logistic and marketing is very expensice, and this is a part of the price, not only the hardware alone!
but for sure, because,of the fact, that everyone wants the dreambox, the will earn alot of money with it,you only must have, the idea, and the recurces,to make something special, that no other do,then you are the "king"in the system!
