Ooh interesting. I wonder if they have fixed the ghost transponder issues that plagued the M3's

Wonder from which "manufacturer" this actually comes - and which other "manufacturers" models are effectively the same box??

TBH. I would suggest that this might be an attempt to use the Technomate brand name to promote a product that has - in reality - no connection to the "original" TM5402" series of Rx's.

FWIW, nowadays, I almost certainly won't be buying a Technomate-branded "anything"

@william-1 - any "thoughts" ??/

Looks like a very poor attempt to flog a receiver made up of last generation parts they found in the bin.

I didn't look at the link until this morning, but now that I have I agree with you - for example, who would fit or use a SCART socket on a "new" Rx in "this day and age"????

Well took the plunge and got the MK4.

For a start it is nothing like any previous version of the TM range as regards to firmware.. For those familiar with the Starsat 2000 Hyper and AZ Cryptobox 752 the software seems strangely familiar.. So it is probably the same, which suggests to me the hacking men will soon write a patch.
No paremeter control for blind scan it scans the whole band quite niftely in speed too..quite a basic menu, transponders can be added manually.
Sensitivity seems good on weak BBC feeds on 16E and it seems to cope with HEVC ok too. A horror story it is not! For those wanting a FTA HD receiver without 4K with what seems so far a fairly decent blind scan then go for it... 20210508_153150.jpg20210508_153137.jpg20210508_153208.jpg20210508_154653.jpg

More testing.. It does not do Multistream even though the transponders are in the database, nothing is downloaded at 5W.
Another niggle, no option to delete a satellites transponders in one go, only on an individual basis.

Hopefully these things will be ironed out. The receiver has not locked up or crashed yet..

Thanks , it is a different chipset and menu structure to the Starsat box (not seen the AZ Cryptobox here in the UK or Europe).

Tuner sensitivity is next on the list then (hardware blind scan ?)

The rear of the new 5402 does look familiar (a receiver some three years back) but I'll need to check the office files.

William will have his work cut out to modify the satellite listings for this one.

The Starsat and Cryptobox and the TM are very similar in how they operate, although I would say the TM is different in layout.
The channel list I have just backed up, and it is SDX format.

Some initial testing results here after just 5 minutes of powering up.
It has to be said - WHY are these new products from Technomate not tested for functionality to match the menu options listed.
First thing noticed - Once you venture off the normal Ku Universal LO or the standard C-band 5150 LO it goes tit's up.
For C-band use - 3.6 to 4.8GHz, i use a Norsat 8000I with a LO of 5750, lnb LO pre-set rx list listed for C-band 5750 or the 'User' LO input option for 5750 does not scan.
Neither does it scan this lnb using the 'User' LO input setting, it does not save the setting. Use the pre-set LO setting of 5150 and it scans but obviously gives the wrong frequency read out.
Not tried Ka band functionality yet - not expecting too much if these initial findings after only 5-10 minutes. This could end up being a long list.
** - I'm also testing the new GTMedia V9 Prime, at half the cost of the TM5402 Mk4 and up to now it wipes the floor with it.

Another thing I noticed after saving the channel list then deleting a satellite, it does not delete it completely, still there when you go back into the setup menu with the factory transponder database.

I quite like it for a Ku FTA blind scanner receiver though..

Not been on the Ku side of things yet but will get around to it eventually i suppose.
I'm going to try a Ka 'User' LO input now on 18GHz Newsnet etc and see if it scans.

Does the same thing on a Ka scan when trying to delete channels.
Re: Ka LO input - it will not save a 'Single User' LO setting and scan, but when using the 'Dual User' LO setting box and set the LO to be the same in both boxes, it will save it and scan. If you use the 'Dual User' LO option and only put the right LO i one of the boxes only, and leave the other box setting to all '0' it will not scan. There is no option to choose H /V/L/R polarity setting - you have to use the 'lnb voltage' setting of either 13v or 18v to get you the right on-screen ch information.
