My Satellite Setup
looking to install a system technomate hd with motorised dish set up and enjoy

Hi guys
I need some help on the this set up to recieve the satellites pre programmed in the sat box their are about 8
I followed tutorial on how to set up the motor and sat dish . I can locate Astra 28.e, Hotbird Astra19 by manually rotating set up around the pole and adjusting the elevation on the motor and angle on the dish
Am i right in saying when you get a good signal on any of the above sats, the rest should be set? as i actuate the motors position it does not come across any other sataliltes or do i need to set the reference point on the motor to 0 and pick a specific satellite to start from,
I have a 90cm mondeal dish i am experimenting with the silvercrest before i go out and buy the dear stuff

As per the guides, you zero the motor, set your latitude on the motor body and align to your nearest due South satellite, which in your case is 1W. http://www.satellites.co.uk/satelli...90916-setup-guide-diseqc-motor-pictorial.html
You align by moving the whole assembly on the mast and the dish vertically.

As you are slightly off 1W, you will need to go into USALS setup, enter your latitude and longitude and send the dish to 1W first.
 
If your Mount is perfectly plumb, and you use USALS, you don't need to set up on your South Satellite (though many people still prefer to do this), as it is sufficient to fix any point on the Arc. Having done so, you'll find that the Motor body is actually facing South. It's the same effect as the South Satellite method, but achieved by a different route.

If you don't use USALS, the South Satellite method is still de rigeur.

But even if you use the "quick" USALS method, it's always worth going to a potentially weaker Satellite once you've fixed a point on the arc, as the stronger Satellites can lead you to false conclusions about the precision of your alignment!

When you say W1 does that mean Thor1 satellite? My reciever does not have that one stored unless you have an idea how to input the settings to create a new satellite

Try Intelsat 10.02, the Thor satellite is Thor 3 and 5.

well i did what u said i found Thor! I thought if i could add the frequencys some how i might be in luck, so i fiddled about with the tuning menu found a way to add a sat typed in its name and frequency done an update i have the mighty Thor!
from this point it was just a matter of manually moving the motor to the sat i want a quick update done
I have already got atlantic bird 3 so i got about 8 sats stored
it has given me confidence to do a proper install with the better gear later
But really its this forum and the guys within that really helped
