My Satellite Setup
dreambox on its way
motorised dish still looking
My Location
Scotland
I can manually turn the dish to 28.2 or thor 2 and get a strong signal but when i try to automatically change satelites i fail miserably. the other problem which is obvoiusly linked is I am going to the manual position settings on the dreambox and pressing zero but the moptorised dish is going about 8 degress west not to the 0 position, when i adjust manually on the motorsied dish buttons and press 0 on the dreambox it moves it again to 8 degrees west...can you please help me and me what stupid thing I am missing ?
The lattitude is fine co i am picking up the sats when i turn the whole dish from the bracket..

dish is 1 meter, motor is technomate tm-2600 and dreambox DM-800 with gemini 4.6 ...

Not sure what you mean by press 0 on the Dreambox, because I don't have one.

First off, are you using Diseqc 1.2 or GotoX?

What do you mean by "The lattitude is fine co i am picking up the sats when i turn the whole dish from the bracket" ?

... makes no sense.

Is the dish on the arc OK? Do you find the satellites if you motorise the dish manually to where you think the sats are? (using either the buttons on the motor itself, or east west controls on the receiver)

using Diseq 1.2
sorry , what i meant the motor usually turns to approximate angle then i turn the whole unit east to west on the pole to get the best signal , the lattitude is set correctly and i also put in the usals...one thing is i deducted the longtitude of ~3 degrees from 360 degrees becasue my position is ~ -3 degrees.
The problem i have is the dish not arcing properly .
The dream box has a manual setting to drive the motor to zero but when i do this its sending the dish 10 degrees east (i said west last night) .

You need to read one of the STICKY motorised dish setup guides first to get your dish tracking the arc. Try the one by rolfw or the satelliteman one.

If I understanad what you are doing correctly, driving the motor to zero, should do exactly that.

[For Moteck and Technomate motors, and possibly some clones]
However, if the reset button on the motor is pressed when the motor is not at zero, the motor will make whatever position it is at zero instead.

To cure, the motor should be move to zero using the buttons on the motor, then press the reset button.

thanks for the help btw...i reset the motor to zero ,double checked the pole is level , used the usals on dreambox and also reflashed with a different image nabilosat to make sure i am eliminating all possible casues .
I manged to find get 4 satelites so i am arcing but not fully i got Astra hotbird euro bird badl ..nothing else..I used the manual postioner in the menu and stored the positions because i was not getting any joy with the usals
i am just about to throw in the towel and call someone to sort it but dont know if they will touch other peeps work.

Have you set the Latitude correct at the motors right side, and not to the left side?
I have a full working DiSEqC rotor setup with a DM 800(no clone) and im usig USALS (Go To X)
The motor at the pictures is set to Latitude 56 degrees, as you see its not the same scale at left and right side.
Its a Jaeger SG-2500 motor and its the same as the Technomate TM-2600 and the Moteck SG-2500.
The motor im using today is a Clarke-Tech that will be replaced with the Jaeger.

hi hakon, yes my motor is set the same ~ 56 ...i am going to take a couple of pictures just in case there is something obvoius i am missing ....
couple of questions :
does it matter how down the shaft of the motor arm you bolt the dish ?
doe the motor and the dish need to be perfectly level horizontally when the motor is at 0 position ?
finally my LON position from multimap is negaitve 3W , do i enter 3 in the dreambox or deduct 3 from 360 ?

The most important in a motorsetup is that the pole is 100% correct, you cant do anything wrong here.If you do it wrong with the pole it will show you problems later. Here i use a level that is 1800mm of a very good quality.
Next step set the motor at correct Lat. I use this site to locate my house Lat and Long _http://itouchmap.com/latlong.html or_http://www.dishpointer.com/
My location is Sweden, Arild and my house is at Lat 56,268(north) and Long 12,579 (east), it is these numbers i put in to my DM800 , se picture.
Next step is to find true south, not so hard.
When i tune in my dish i use Hotbird 13e its located at my area 0,27 east on the motor. So thats the sat that are closest to the "0" at the motor. I chose in my DM800 -Motor Setup-Tune-Hotbird 13e ,and i choose a valid transponder, then press ok and the dish moves just a little from the Zeropoint to the 13e ,now the motor is at the correct Hotbird position .Here i tune in my dish so i can catch the best signal from Hotbird.Next step is a west sat, i choose 30w maby a finetuning needs here and then ex 75e sat if all ok here i am close to a perfect tuning..
The tube at the Tecnomate motor is very long, so try to put it up as close at the motor as you can.If you put it longest down at the tube there will be more load/stress at the motor.
I'm not shure how you do a recalculation for your Longitude, some who can this will give you a help

Edit: I think you should choose west in the settings for your location ex Long 3,089 west .You are living west of the meridian and i live est off.

hi i have to deduct from 360 degrees then west other wise the angle is completely wrong..I mamaged to pick up Astra 28.2 ,19 and 13 hotbird , nothing else i am still not arcing right , wil check with a longer spirit level cos i am using a smaller one.
thanks

completely baffled now... i changed the lon to 3 degrees instead of deducting from 360 , and when i check the actual angle (notches) on the motor its on 35 degrees , I thought its supposed to be at 28.2 degrees ?
still picking up hotbird ans Astra 28.2 ...
please help

Sounds like you've entered 3 degrees East instead of 3 degrees West .............

You need to fiddle about to ensure the Longitude is recognised as West (Or "minus") by your Receiver.

checked again defo west , when i send the motor to Amor 5w , physically on the motor is at ~ 10 , how strange is that??

Is your DM800 a clone or a genuine Dreambox? Mine is not a clone.

yes its a clone , with a bit of tweaking and a new image i managed to pick up thor 1w,9e 13e 19e 23 e 28.5 e , but i am missing some of the sats ...
not picking up badr , or turksat
Should i pick up every satellite with 1.1m dish ?

Try another satbox. The box you have is not a Dreambox, its a clone.
In my setup with 120cm dish ,Inverto Black Ultra Single LNB,i catch:
30w,27.5w,24,5w,22w,18w,15w,12.5w,8w,7w,5w,4w,0.8w-4.8e,7e,9e,10e,13e,15.8e,19.2e,21.5e,23,5e,26e,28,2e,33e,36e,39e,42e,45e,53e,57e,60e,66e,68.5e,75e. Some sat needs good weather like 7w and 39e
