I have just purchased the Sat motor and find it extremely noisy from time to time, despite being advertised as extreemly low noise.I also have the 2200 model which is more silent than the 2600 by far.Both motors have the same 90cm aluminium dish.Any comments and will a drop of oil somewhere cure the problem.
 
This is probably just due to the 2600 model having metal gearing. Wouldn't of thought oil would do much.
 
i have the 2600 and i dont think mine is too noisy, it is my first motor however, but to reduce the noise grease would be a better option than the oil. maybe fill the gears with it?

I solved my problem and discovered that when i took off the mounting tube to check the limit settings and putting it back it must have been minutely skew and caused the base of the tube to slightly touch the base of the rotating spindle.That caused the grating noise.
I would have thought that a thin spacer washer woulod have been the answer but there is simply no room for that as otherwise the bolt securing the tube would not have gone in.
 
Yes - one problem/solution to stash away for future reference :)
