I created a pretty crappy page out of TV channel logos for video demo.

Teletext services are still up and running in some Countries ..... Italy, for one :D
 
In the german speaking countries, Portugal, czechia and scandinavia it´s still available.

I found some Ceefax pages I could use. SWMBO came into the den and said "didn't think that thing was around any more".

Same for me with my BBC 'B'. Big slab of a box, needed a metal stand under which it lived under the BBC.
Often went off tune (varicaps).

Sometimes if you're lucky and had a good video recorder you can play back some recorded tapes and the teletext works!

Yes, worked almost perfectly if you had a SVHS recorder.
 
There's software at ali1234/vhs-teletext which tries various sneaky tricks to decode teletext from regular VHS recordings. I've not had much luck with it, but others have managed to get good quality dumps from old tapes this way.

My favourite part of going through these is some of the amazing art that people made for it despite the restrictions teletext imposed.

As anyone who’s tuned in ORF2E,will know they broadcast teletext,when it is off air

Probably due to size .... 1MB limit, IIRC.

"Pix Resizer" works well.
 
Just a bit of teletext from Belarusian TV from 2006, captured and restored from VHS VBI stream.
