My Satellite Setup
OpenBox X5 on a 1 meter motorized dish.
And now a 10 foot "C" band dish.

Custom built PC
My Location
Deep in the Boonies in the central Sierra Nevada mountains of California.
OK got the dongle and have it setup, now just waiting for a bird to go over.

The SDR software needs a scanner type setup, otherwise your going to have to set up the frequency of the bird going over manually.

I had that problem yesterday. NOAA 15 went over at 19:43.
I did not notice that NOAA 16 was going over 13 minutes later at 19:56.It was half way through the scan on the wrong frequency before I spotted it.

I'm having problems with my SDR, what are your settings for that software, all my stuff is scrambled up.

I find that I have to keep an eye on the WFM button in Radio. That changes if I don't watch it.

Well I checked all my settings but have no idea why the audio is all messed up, the decoded signals are scrambled up like Sundays breakfast.

My audio input is well within the limits, I see the signals just fine and I even listened to one bird as it went over, it sounded just fine, I will have to work on it sometime tomorrow evening as I have to go out and check the house boat in the morning.

Will post some screen shots as well.

In SDR# you can leave most of the settings alone.

WFM. Bandwidth 40000.

If you cant get it going I'll zip up my sdr# folder & stick it on dropbox. You can move it around folders so its not a problem to stick another install of it on the computer

Use SDR Console, it has built in sat tracking with doppler functionality.

I would but they want a donation........I'm way too cheap.

This is what it looks like when recording the sat using SDR#.

It's got to be an audio decoding problem somewhere in the setup. I listened in and the audio was perfect....????....????

OK...It's time to hit the bottle, and maybe smash this thing up into little pieces, I've tried everything, delete and reload, wipe all programs related to this and reload, then run a CCleaner to get all the junk left behind and still get crap as far as audio into WXtoIng........

I go and listen to an FM radio station and it's fine.

Ive just spotted this question on the APT Group on fb @Terryl it looks very similar to your issue.

Yup it does look like that, I will check the audio settings

OK the latentcy was set to 100, I set it to 1, now I have to wait till about 4 PM till a bird goes over.

Two more suggestions popped up on that thread

Yep change the audio bit rate (lower) should solve this issue.

On slower computers such as Pentium, the latency setting gets touchy. I was using 135 on an old Vista AMD slug

It's running on an Intel i5 at around 3 GHz , the replacement for my weather server.

Using Windows 7 ultimate with all updates, it's a screamer.

But all it has is the built in sound card chip set for a Dell, maybe I might need to upgrade that to something a bit better.

What do you have the latency set for now?

On mine it wasn't, now it is and it's back to all greyed out like yours, also the latency is set back to 100....WHAT the heck is going on with this program??????

I might try a fresh download and a re-install.

OK I found out that the SDR has to be stopped to set the latency, I set it to 1 (as low as it will go) and now have to wait out a bird.
