nice result -- pride21 --

i,v found that AFN transponder to be tricky at the best of times on the setups i,v had -
i,v noticed in the past that your - 140cm smw dish - gets good results --:)
it looks set to do even better now with the new l.n.b.

i wonder if the ESX 241 has taken over from the DMX 241 that was being sold in the USA last year ? as i dont see it listed now

i replaced my Pauxis 900A - 17k with a BSC421 - 13k at the end of last year after considering a few options and got an improvement across all sats
cheers nelson.b.

hi nelson_b yes dmx241 was the old model i think this one was issued in january this year i found it very sensitive.

hi all been busy altering my focal lenth on the dish,as the new lnbf is working very well i thought i would check the focal lenth properly, the SMW dish has a focal lenth of 630mm i set it on METRO at 37W without scaler then moved it till it peaked the focal point is now 656mm so i decided to make new lnb arm and support tubes i decided to use an old UHF aerial with square boom and the supports are made out of the elements of an old band 3 aerial, when put together its very rigid, finaly up and running and a quick test i found all the channels across the arc were stronger, here are some new ones.
49E SABA 1 and 2 3776R
57E AL Hurra 4071L and a scan brought in ETV-north,ETV-south,ch3,ch4. 3661L
20E AFRICA TV and TABA TV 3893R very weak
40W MGM 3715R good signal
34W DR1 feed 4067L.

good results -- pride21 --

shifting the focal point has given you a little more :)
what feed /scalar are you using -- one of the WS International type
or one designed just for your s.m.w. dish?

49E SABA 1 and 2 3776R ----- i picked up for the first time a couple of months back when i upgraded my l.n.b. -- but the signal is always fairly weak for me --
i wonder if your being a lot further south is an advantage ?

57E is out of reach for me - the wall of a building blocks my view

20E AFRICA TV and TABA TV 3893R ---- i picked up myself for the first time tonight :) like it is for you though its very weak -- and suffers break up with me

are you using the dielectric plate that came with your ESX 241 --
or a home made "doctorofsat" one ?

regards nelson.b.

hi nelson_b i am using a prime focus scaler, the one i am using is quite deep to all the others it increases the signal dont know why,SABA is about 60% quality for me,the dielectric plate i am using is doctorofsat but my own design i lost count how many i have made but the one i have now is working very well,i have been experimenting with the plate and found that when pushed into the lnbf about 10mm has the strongest increase of signal on all channels except pentagon which is blocky until it is pulled out a bit.
cheers.

hi -
good results, with a prime focus scalar on a offset dish -- :) i have read of others finding this to be so.
i tried with a deep prime focus scalar (one from a old co rotor) and results were ok but better with the cone shaped one -- on my setup .
i also have one home made plate that works well across all sats -
but like you - mine needs a different position for pentagon -- something different/odd about that transponder

regards nelson.b.

The SMW 140cm dish, although classed as an offset dish (13 degrees offset angle) has a prime focus LNB bracket, so may well work better with a prime focus feedhorn.

..Well guys ...my ESX should be winging its way across the pond right now ...
Looking forward to trying it out ..
Judging by Prides experience of his ESX ..It could well be interesting.

The ESX I ordered from over the pond arrived this morning ...
No extra to pay ...bonus :)

Obviously not had a chance to try it yet ..
but claims 70db @13K ....
and an impressive deep valley multi ring scalar plate..
Nice..
Looking forward to the testing ..
Can't argue with the delivery times ...very speedy indeed from the US..

Mine arrived this morning as well! Marked as a gift @ $12 value so no problem with duty. All I need now is the dish lol

hi all have been testing the lnbf but with new toy technomate 5402HD CI+ Super+ i am very impressed i have had to scan all sats in the 5402 found it very sensitive,i did scan on 40W found a transponder which is not on lyngsat 3845R 5750 and world channel has got extra 3 more channels. did scan on 24.5W got loveworld on 3887L 1860 but all so picked up RTB see pics, tried 10E the strongest transponder was 3916R 14000 got 64% quality but will not lock shame.

Nicely done Pride ...
If you can pick up RTB and Loveworld on 24 W.you should also be able to lock
4111 L
tp 86 ORTM

..as its at a very similar level of signal ..
Oddly tho' ..it does seem to appear a fraction off centre from RTB ...
I usually have to move the dish a couple of clicks to maximise the signal ..
Might be worth trying ..a couple of clicks east and west of the prime position.

...unless of course you already have ...and just didn't mention it..

Hi VS yes i can lock ORTM ok to get RTB i have to move dish to the west.
cheers

hi all been fine tuning the esx241 to get a bit more out of it so i thought i would try 43W which is a no go on my dish well surprise surprise i have just picked up Cholusat 3874v 1546,i am hoping the signal strenth will go up this evening then i will see if anything else will come through.
cheers

Congrats pride ;)
No point in me going after this bird ...
The footprint excludes all but the far South of the UK ....unless one is using a mega BUD..

thanks VS i received another transponder Radio Nederland Wereldomroep on 4000v 1200 at 40% quality.i did a scan of this bird with a technomate 5200d super, nothing i also did a scan with my vantage also nothing but with the toy technomate 5402HD super+ it picked them up plus the other transponders were also varied in strenth.
cheers

good result - pride21 - :)

i,v tried for 43 W many times -- but as vipersan remarked - very litle chance of anything here in the north west --
your setup is working well using the esx241 and your new technomate reciever -- nice one :)

regards nelson.b.

I can't check at the minute (I'm watching the Astra 1n launch) but I have got that channel in the past (by quite a big margin too; SNR 25% would have been enough). Footprint maps say I need a 1.9m dish.

hi huevos you must have a very sensitive receiver to get that channel as i said before my other receivers will not pick it up,i have only a 1.4mtr dish which is not big enough.
