It isn't. But it's the closest to an answer.

Later Edit. A nautilus is actually a mollusc and part of the cephalopod family so related to squid, octopuses and cuttlefish.

As did I and neither could I.

Assuming that the clues are all in strict chronological order (a big stretch I know ) the answer has to lie between 16 and 18 which, assuming that my answers are correct, gives 25 No. 1s to sift through. And that's how I came up with my answer.

Hmmm.....having tried to check back on my answer I'm certain the track was recorded by the singers in question, however it may have been on an EP. (Though I'm sure it was a B side)....I'll give you a further clue (yes, they are in chronological order), the year was 1968...
