Paper towels in toilets, what's the point anymore surely some high efficiency hand dryers are better ?

those dyson ones in service stations etc are ace at drying hands quickly.

Google can be added to the list ....

On many counts: Their recent indignation at (alleged) US hacking of Merkel's phone was just so hypocritical as Google is one of the most intrusive organisations there has ever been.

Ah yes the Dyson Blade that visually distorts your skin and flesh whilst drying efficiently but I think it is ironic as a similar blast of air from a air nozzle on the factory floor gets you a written warning when blowing dust or swarf off your clothing where I work

I don't know, you're showing the right tendencies.....

Of late I've been plagued with cold calling on my land line from SFR (French Vodaphone). I don't answer the call but Googled the number displayed. I get this call up to five times a day, sometimes at 10pm. It's to get you to change broadband service providers I believe, do they really think you'll be in a good mood to have a friendly chat at 10pm???

Up Yours Aviva !!!!
Renewal for bricks n mortar dropped on the mat this morning ..
..and although the policy was taken out some 4 years ago for about £120 PA ...they craftily kept upping a few quid each year ...even though I never made a claim ..
Next years £180
This year was the straw that broke my back and see RED..
another £30 rise ...so I phoned 'em ...and lost my rag ..
Made no odds ..they wouldn't budge.
In fact whilst going through the policy ..they discovered an error ..
I have a slate roof ...they had me down as tiles.
The knobhead on the phone said ..that will affect your premium when corrected..
How much will I save I said ..
Errr ..no it will put it up by a tenner...
WTF said I ..Why ??
I dunno said the knobhead ..it's just the way it is in out T & Cs..
I can send you a Tenners worth of M & S shopping vouchers..if it helps .
Stick 'em where the sun never shines ..says I..
I have a month to run which is already paid for ..
Cancel it after that ..
So much for loyalty ..and playing fair I said ..
Ignoring his bleating I slammed down the phone ..
went on line and found a quote for the same cover EXACTLY ..with Esure ..
No direct debit ..but a one off payment per yer
£63.60

Now for the energy companies ..whilst I'm still fumin'......

People stopping to take photos of our house which is in the middle of nowhere and stopping me from working with stupid questions like where do you get your electricity from? (reply) from the solar panels - can't miss them 10mtrs X 30mtrs. Even had a priest say it must be a miracle to get electric from them

Insurance companies ..
Up Yours !!!!
And me too today.

Wife's car insurance came up for renewal and the premium quoted was £307.78. Now, when mine came up for renewal last May I did the comparison site thing and managed to save over £100 by changing companies so I did the same again.

This time I managed to reduce the premium to £191.16 and, I reckon, it's a better deal as I increased the mileage from 11,000 to 12,000 and reduced the excess to £200.

There's no bonus for being a faithful customer. In fact you get penalised. You should make it good practice to dump your Insurance company every few years or so.

Now for the energy companies ..whilst I'm still fumin'......
Funny you should say that because that's next on my list!

I found that with some companies, reducing the Excess to Zero made no change to the Premium.

Bizarre, but potentially very useful indeed.

When I was filling in the details on the original comparison site I put down for £100 voluntary excess. Some of the quotes that came back £100 or even £150 compulsory on top of that but the one I eventually went with actully had zero compulsory.

When I was trying to get the original insurance company to price match they said that there must be some compulsory somewhere and couldn't believe that there was none.

In fact when I phoned up to confirm the quote I increased the European cover aspect (important for us), which increased the premium and then, as I said, put the excess up to £200 which nearly paid for the European cover.

Took me nearly three hours all told but a very satisfying conclusion.

Hmm in Finland I think we now have three, yes three, companies offering car insurance and they all give the same silly prices. No discounts either for having insurance abroad for nearly 20 years with no claims. The silly thing is I learnt to drive in Finland and driven here regularly for the past 20 years but I'm treated as a new driver and am currently paying just under 1000 euros for an 9 year old Audi A4 (for the first time this year it went under 1000). Mind you, it does include breakdown and road tax, so it's a bargin really. ;)
