Bright eyes here asked me to change the battery in her Imperial Gold watch. Its not a cheap item so I thought it best she took it to the local jewellers. He took it round to the workshop and a few minutes later returned and asked, how long has this battery been in there. Probably a few years she said. Well he tells her, its leaked and the works are corroded so that's it. How much to repair it she asked, about £100 plus vat. How much is the gold value worth she enquired. he weighed it and said around £150 and offered the £150, she declined the offer to ask me first. So she came home and asked me what I thought. I don't think so, never known a watch battery to corrode. I had a look inside, had a good view with the magnifying glass, hmmmm, no corrosion just as I expected, so I put in a new battery. All working fine. Just shows how people can be conned because the watch is worth around £400 second hand.

Rang trading standards as the council tell me I have to contact them first and they contact the council. We will make a note of it but it s your word against theirs. Nothing will be done, just have to pass the word around family and friends.

A few years ago a South African colleague tried and failed to get her watch battery changed at a jeweller's in Geneva. Why? They refused to touch it because the watch wasn't Swiss

A friend at uni told a story about going to get the tyres on her car changed, just to be told that her brakes were shot and the whole system needed to be replaced. She told them that if that were the case then clearly it was their fault because the same garage had already replaced the brakes 6 months beforehand. They refused to believe her until she produced the invoice + receipts, at which point they magically changed their opinion about the brakes needing replacing

For swindlers like these I send my Guys around, they dangle them over the bridge for a few hours, makes them leave the area fast.

get a few m8,s and go round at closing time, kidnap the owner then put his hands in plastic bags and break his fingers with a hammer. drop him off at the local hospital. what he did is a complete breach of trust after you chose to give him your custom/hard earned. at least a thief is a thief these people are worse as they smile while ripping you off

might stop anybody else getting took to the cleaners and there is nothing playstation about it, seen it and been involved in it many moons ago

Remember to leave your "Rolex" at home if you go to France. Possession of counterfeit goods is a criminal offence there and if you only get the offending item confiscated you can count yourself lucky.

I think I'm safe it doesn't claim to be a Rolex just looks similar(from a distance!).It was very cheap,and just needed a battery and glass. A new Miyota 2115 movement would have cost £2.55.
