What to do?

Aha!

I have been through every pair of socks I own (plus a few that look like they might be interlopers from SWBMO's cupboard) and finally ditched all the ones with no elastic or with holes in (And has anyone else noticed that places like T**co pack them pinned together with nylon staples that leave behind a weak spot when they are removed, so they ladder up after only a few months?)

Being an organised sort of chap, I have a spares drawer which had a couple of five-packs I must have bought last Century, so they've been brought into play.

My excitement is palpable.

What sort of mind-numbing, yet essential (??) task do the rest of you engage in when all else fails?

In ye olde days, when women had tights that started laddering, they used a dab of fingernail paint to stop the laddering continuing, not sure how well it'd work on cheap te$co socks though... :-rofl2

T____ socks are only guaranteed until you leave the shop or put them on

I bought a pack of three (pairs) socks from Lidl just before Christmas as they were on sale at £1.99. When I got home I found they were trainer socks and do not quite cover the ankle in use, so absolutely useless, except when doubling up with a normal sock inside the boots, helping with the insulation.

Three or four years ago, I bought six pairs of H J Hall Indestructible socks (commonly known as 'the sock for the working man' - although that description hasn't applied to me for twenty years).

I haven't needed to wear any other socks since then - they refuse to wear out, keep their shape and stay fresh after countless wash cycles. Plenty of shoes have worn out during that time.

Work (as I work for myself from home I find an awful lot of other things that need doing).

I read that as "haven't needed to wash any other socks since then" ... :)

Must say that I've developed a liking for M&S socks. They have a nice shape, fit well and generally have a good life.

Not particularly cheap though. I generally have to wait for Christmas as we don't shop there normally.

Staying on the menswear theme - not boasting, but the last pairs of boxer shorts I bought from M&S have too small a front opening; also it's too high up for comfortable 'manipulation' through my trouser zip.

Too embarrassed to use their returns policy...

Ah, yes, the "Cowells".

But not too embarrassed to let us know here?
Not the forum to discuss my anatomical details. However, I do wonder about those of the male populace of the shorts' country of origin

When knights were bold and nights were cold, we'd wrap a sock around our c@*#$ and f#¥@ until contented!:-rofl2

Since I had a stroke five years ago the curculation in my legs is poor.I wear long jons in the winter.Try getting through a zip, longjons, and a pair of underpants, quick when you are busting.:)
The modern name is thermal underwear.:)

I can think of another one, overalls, trousers and underwear, I completely failed at that the other night (during a brief pee-break during a GTA Online session) and let's just say my leg and feet were suddenly warmed up.......... o_O

I was only wearing my overalls indoors cos I was cold... :-rofl2

Wearing overalls and playing GTA online?....were you getting into character?

Nah, I put them on cos I was cold well before playing GTA Online, the latter only happened by coincidence as I was watching something on iplayer and got invited into a game... :D

That said, I was wearing red overalls in the game aswell (lacking the Honda logo though):

Was thinking along the lines of these :

Obviously wearing the restraints would explain your previous predicament.....
