To triplex or not to triplex

Hi I'm new to this lark so apologies in advance if this is a daft question.

Q - Can I run 4 cables from 4 outs on a labgear multiswitch to 4 individual outlets on 2 wall plates which in turn will feed a twin tuner FreesatHD reciever, DTT and DAB?

I suppose the implied question is - Will the individual tuners reject the unwanted signals and work properly?

I know that I would conventionally use a triplexer wall plate fed by two cables, but I quite like the idea of any service on any socket and I'm in a fortunate position with respect to a short easy route from the switch to my main room.

Short answer is yes.

If the multiswitch has been fed with the requisite inputs, i.e. - the four outputs from a Quattro LNB, a UHF Band IV/V TV aerial, a Band II FM aerial and, possibly, a Band III Dab aerial. The multiswitch combines them all together and feeds them down a single cable where a wall plate separates them out again.

There's absolutely no reason why you can't go ver the top and run, say, 5 separate cables to 5 wallplates as simple ouputs and connect 2 to a twin tuner satellite recorder, 1 to a Freeview receiver, 1 to an FM tuner and 1 to a DAB tuner.

All the various tuners will work perfectly with the signals they want and ignore the rest.

It's a bit of a waste of a multiswitch's outputs though!

Yes it is a bit of a waste and I'm not sure if I will do it that way. But I just wanted to know in case I do. I've spent quite a bit of time searching the web and have not been able to find a clear answer.

As well as triplexer plates there are also quadplexer (?) plates available. These take two of your multiswitch outputs and give you two satellite ouputs, an FM/DAB output and a TV output.

All this is, however, is a triplexer with a straight through for the second satellite output. It's just more convenient, though.

Hi, yes in fact this is just what I've decided on - now that I know that an unsplit output will feed any device - I'm going to use a quadplex with a return to which I'll connect an output. This means using 3 outs instead of 4.

Fluke, what you want is a IRS system, piece of cake to install especially on your house.

What's required?
60-80cm dish, fitted with Quattro LNB
1 high gain wide band aerial
Dab aerial
FM aerial
Triplexer
1 multiswitch
wall plates

this will then give you everything you need. just remember that you will need to send two feeds to each wall plate for Sky+ to work.
