One taken from a shaded sensor in the garden, the other from the landing (ashfelt flat roof above) so 36 is currently the mean.

We are back to around 35, though the still air isn't helping. At some point an hour ago both gauges hit the 38 mark.

38°C here at 5PM, but a mile away from the Botanics, where UK's highest of 38.7°C was set there a couple of years ago. So just a gnat's spit away from that.
No doubt will be beaten today or tomorrow somewhere.

Our Central Heating digital thermometer is in a hallway cupboard.
It is only 24C in there, but SWMBO declined my invitation to spend time in there. Weird.

Peaked at 36.9°C & it's still 30°C now and humidity is rising as it cools.

I think it's fair to say that us northerners, who are calibrated to not wear coats in winter & anything above zero is t-shirt and shorts weather, have had it worse than anywhere else ;)

Hit a steady 40+ in the house (shirt was totally soaked after a couple of hours in our bedroom office doing stuff for a local u3a photo group presentation next Monday!), and pretty much the same in the garden (completely surrounded by walls, so virtually no "cooling breezes").

OTOH, this weather has a "useful slimming effect" - neither of us have felt like eating much for the last three days or so!

actually it was 60°C under the sun!!! came back to 23C late at night!
Indeed we thought the thermometer had been fried & it survived!!

Welcome to the heat, we have 100 F plus for 3 months strait or more at my location, it was cooler today, only 100 F, but our humidity is much lower, anything above 20% and we start complaining.

Record for the month of July was 103.5 F.

and Reagan made the US keep the old fahrenheits miles feet gallons from the old colonizer... I never got it why the US never went metric!!
At least,present temperatures in California are easy to remember...100°F!
