My Tompson Sky HD box has a "feature" that seems odd - does anyone else have the same problem?

When selecting a program from the "ALL CHANNELS" listing there is a delay of about 10 seconds before the program appears. During this time the display shows the No Signal message. This happens both when selecting both HD and non HD channels.

If the channel is selected by pressing the select button when viewing a channel and then using the scroll keys to find a new channel there is no delay.

Similarly, if the selection is made from the Favourite Channels by using the blue button when viewing another channel there is no delay. However, if the Favourate Channels screen is used to select a channel the delay is present.

I have found the reason for my Thompson HD box's behaviour. For a few hours today I was able to use the standard default transponder - and during this time the menu system worked perfectly. Incidentally, during this time the signal strength and quality indicators also worked - on my usual default transponder (12.129v) they show nothing.

There is a way to speed up the channel changing from the program menu when the 11778v default transponder is not being recieved. After selecting the channel from the main menu the channel change button (on the right of the remote control) is flicked between its + and - positions - and pronto the channel changes !

One other feature I have found with my Thomson HD box is that when it suddenly decides to give false reports that "there is a technical fault with the signal" the problem can sometimes be fixed by simply going to the installer menu and selecting the option to rebuild the Sky+ planner. The system then reboots without loss of any recorded programs and without needing a full install.
