Well ..the second habd gibby 1.3 arrived at 9pm last night ..
Too late to 'play' with it ..
But this morning I assembled a makeshift platform in the most suitable spot for 36East and rigged up the Gibby..
My gawd I was perhaps living in cloud cuckoo as to its size ..and may not get it on a diseqc moto after all ..
..and there is no space in my backyard for a permanent mount at ground level..
EEk.
Still I had to test it of course..
No sub Saharan beams as yet ..but then its just thown together quickly and no tweaking.
I did however lock a mussian mux at 12245 (right circular) even using a black ultra linear ..so I guess its working well enough.
Here are some pics ..but of course no video to show as the NTV mux is encrypted..

...on second thoughts ..maybe that IS the subsaharan beam ..as looking on lyngsat they share the same frequency ...but one is H ..the other is R ..
:)
..and of course ..that text isn't Russian on the info screen..

Ive got the exact same dish Vipersan but i painted mine black is yours the aluminum version ? this possibly one of best dishes on the market for its size and if it is the aluminum version you can of course use a decent diseq motor on it.

Great antenna and interesting solution for testing stand. :confused
I have pretty good reception of 36*E, but do not recognize Mussian mux @ 12245 R. There what I have in list of 12245 R:

I'd *very* impressed if you had a Russian beam on 1.2m dish in Blighty. You need at least a 3.5m dish in London to get anything from there. This is most definitely the sub-Saharan beam. I even get the occasional lock on this frequency on my Penta 85 dish down south.

Lovely dish - I wouldn't stick it on the DiSEqC motor on the wall, maybe at ground level like I had it... and sheltered. But it was fine so maybe a metal geared motor would be OK?

Will be interesting to compare your 36E signal to mine on the Fibo later :)

..Thanks for the assurances re the motor Rima ..
Attached is a picture of where I would like to mount it ..
Replacing the grey 60cm in the middle ..
top to bottom would be Big Bigger ...Biggest..
;)
What do you think would be a suitable diseqc motor ?? from you experience ?

Sadly there is no polar mount ...which is why I was hoping to mount it on a usals motor...
Also ..it would require another V box ...the 2 I have are in use ...an not sure there would be enough clearance behind the dish for the actuator..
Most metal gear motors these days do claim to drive up to 1.4 ...and since this is ally ..though the steel AZ/EL ..makes it quite heavy ...I was just hoping ...etc...etc..

There are alreay 2xTs and 2xKs on the pole ..but I could fit another couple ..there is room ..

Yes, that's the SSA beam VS. Get that easily on my Gibby 1.2 too.

This e-bay item is interesting. Why I like actuators and positioners- cuz they do not take receiver's power to drive motor.

Problem with this motor is that I can't see how it mounts halfway up a vertical pole ?
It appears at first glance to mount atop a pole ..which would be no use to me ..
Do we have anyone who has fitted one of these ...and can advise ?

I had a 36V version of this motor and, yes, it would only sit on top of the pole. It really didn't suit my Penta as due to the funny stub shape, it wouldn't go beyond around 30 degrees in either direction without the dish hitting the motor....

See how close the bottom of the dish is to the motor/pole assembly? Might not be an issue on the Gibby, but it certainly was on the Penta. Would have needed to create some sort of spacer.

But then, I also remember, the Gibby would also need a spacer for the Moteck to fit on there... for clearance.

if you going to mount it up on the wall on a Diseqc motor then your going to need the extra bracket to fit inside the mount as the motor stub is too small to get a proper grip on the dish, And to be honest the weight is too much for a Diseqc motor thats why mines on a the Polar mount and actuator

hi -
a nice addition to your dish collection :)

i,v used one of those motors but only on 80 x 90 mesh dish
it only sits on top of the pole -- and as C.J pointed out it may need spacing to be well clear of the mounting pole -- or the motor that sticks out sideways --- (had to space it on the 80 x 90 dish )
otherwise its quite a sturdy motor/mount -- got mine from C.P.C many years ago

regards nelson.b.

Interesting CJ ...thanks for the picture ..
I had pictured it in my minds eye with the motor mounted atop the pole turned through 180 degrees so that the stub leans backward ...such that the ez/el mount of the dish would tilt the dish further groundward..
?? but presumably this is not the case after all..

That's a jaeger smr 99 motor, 36volt.

Not sure if a gibby 1.2 will work on it or not.

I have one boxed never used if anyone is interested.

Is that possible to put that motor upside-down? Not on top of pole but from the very bottom. I think I have seen some picks people are done like that. Than the mechanical issue is not an issue anymore.
