TopUpTV "pay as you go"

TopUpTV have just launched a new "pay as you go" service:

There is no £20 connection charge or credit check / direct debit, you just buy a one week smartcard in the supermarket for £10.

Not sure how it's going to work yet but it could be an interesting new angle of attack...

It is a warning system for people who flame other members, use foul language, post keys or hex files etc, if it shows zero, then you haven't been warned, everyone has one, but you can only see your own.
 
£10 a week is a lot when you can get the whole month for like £8. Or have i got the wrong end of the stick?
 
No you haven't, it's definitely poor value when compared to the subscriber rate. What I don't get is if these are £10 for a weeks viewing why the website is quoting a figure of £2 a day. Also seems to be rather a costly option for them having to issue viewing cards repeatedly.
 
I guess that they are using the scheme as a taster.
 
Ive heard that Xtraview is similar costs £1 for 1 channel a day and the charge is made to your BT phone by calling them

That would also limit them to those punters with ondigi-boxes, IDTV's and Nokia boxes with CAM slots! :-bash

Which must surely mean some kind of keyed front-end... I think that the stream will be encrypted somehow this time (they would be nuts not too, right?), but without a card it must 'work' in a different way...

I always thought that it must be possible to use a bastardised version of PGP or similar...
