Transparent Vs Solid

I'm currently in the process of deciding what bits to buy for my Sat setup (Sky) in Switzerland.

I have been told I need a min. 80cm dish to receive Sky here, due to living in an apartment with a balcony I'm looking at getting a transparent dish.

But is there any pro's/con's between having a Transparent dish compared to a Solid dish?

Thanks in Advance

I was told that you lose a little bit of signal with a transparent dish.
I have one on my balcony at the moment, and have to say I have no signal strength issues at all. My reception is equal to my friends with a solid dish.

One friends experience does suggest they are a bit less durable however, which I suppose is true. The transparent one is probably more likely to crack near the attachment points.

My transparent dish performs pretty much identically to any other medium priced dish, I have seen some which are less well made though.
