Hi,

I recently moved house and brought my Sky digital subscription with me.
All the channels were working ok there but in my new place there is a problem with a select number of channels, the picture and sound being scrambled. I rang up several times and finally got a reply saying that there was something wrong with the transponder (?) for the vertical or horizontal polarisation (whichever these channels were coming in on .....golf TV and E4 in particular!). They said that even though it was not installed correctly that it would cost me approx. 100 euro to get a technician out to fix it. Does anyone have any ideas about how I could fix this myself ??
I'd appreciate any input at all......

el Monkey.

Could be several things, but an ill-aligned dish or faulty LNB may be the problem, what signal strength and quality readings do you see when you press Services/4/6?

Hey Rolfw,

Thanks for the quick reply. I just tried a signal test (Services/4/6) and the signal strength was quite good (about 80%) but the signal quality was bad (less than 20%)... Having said this it might not be a good indicator of the signal tonight with the stormy weather we are having here now !!?

From the sound of that, either the dish needs tweaking, or you need to check the connectors/cable. You also need to make sure that there are no slight obstructions.
