Alright guys, has anyone come up with a better way of adjusting these? Took one down for someone and thought id replace my old 85cm motorised dish that I've been using for years. Stuck it on the motor but really struggling to get a peak signal on all sats. Never had a problem with the old dish. Just wondering if anyone has modded the crappy sliding system before?
 
You need about 3 hands to successfully adjust that abomination!

Indeed, they can be a real pain, they take far more effort than most dishes when you come to tighten up. Over rated in my opinion, but the TD88 is pretty good.
I have a TD110 in the garage and don't know what to do with it.

Yeah thats not the horrible slidy thing abomination on my dish either..

The slider grips both sides of the vertical rib. And ALWAYS moves a few mm when you try to do the bloody thing up.
 
OK, blackers, but seriously.
- The picture martin-f posted, is my 120 cm Laminas while it was temporarily on my balcony.
- The TD-110 is a great performer being just 100 cm wide, I used it many years.
- One needs to learn how to adjust elevation of the TD-110 (correct looseness of the bolts, how much elevation changes while tightening them). It's not intuitive, hence the need to use the brain!
- The bolt added to the Laminas, is not possible on the TD-110.
- If you can't get peak signal on all sats, that's a different problem completely. Involving not just dish elevation, but also motor azimuth/elevation etc.
 
Im sure VS could knock summat up in half an hour but when your metal bashing skills amount to always slicing your fingers open when you try anything fancy you make do with the abomination - I just ensure if Im fiddling with that dish I put a couple of hours aside & make sure the missus isnt going to want anything doing up her allotment that afternoon :D

Anyway if its a bit low I just stick a gardern can under the arm :-lmao
 
I've always found the most efficient way to adjust a Triax is to replace it with a Gibertini......
 
Final adjustment on the TD110 is a work of art, tweak elevation, slightly tighten, tweak again slightly tighten, re-adjust azimuth and tighten, tweak elevation again and tighten, repeat as required.:)

PS. You will also achieve better results if a washer or two as spacers are placed between the bottom of the dish and the boom arm, as the LNB holder sits slightly below the optimum position.

Have adjusted smaller td's, 1st oiling the sliding surfaces, may be worth trying on the 110, but got no experience on that one.

Slightly tightening, then slide up and down a few times to grind away corrosion and distribute the oil, find approximate adjustment & tighten until it -just- stays in place, final nudging has been much easier to control. Good luck.

I ended up greasing the bracket slightly so I could align it when I had a td88 years ago
