Hi all,

Been refereed to this site by a helpful member of the DS forum. I notice that you lot here can move my interest on a million miles. :) However in the short term I have a few questions that hopefully people can help with.

Im thinking about getting the Tring + viewing card for the Sport. Now I used to have ART / Showtime years ago so want to get back into getting the football. The problem is that I am a little lost on some bits of this encryption.

I have a Fortec Star Innovation HD box that has Conax built in - will this be ok for the Tring card and keep updating it or whatever it does - or do I need to buy a cam?

Also where is the best place to get a card from? I have seen people quote prices of £190 however what I have seen on ebay is £240 - £270, so clearly I must be looking in the wrong place.

Thanks for the initial replies. Are that company ok that are advertising the cards on this site? Also will they be ok on my Fortec Star box?
 
We pretty quickly unload companies who are not OK, best ask them about compatibility.
 
To be honest, I'd give Tring a miss. Many people are reporting that the 3pms games aren't working
 
Oh looks like there are fun and games all over with Tring cards. Just been looking at the posts over on the Als&t forum. Basically the advice atm has to be "stay away from Tring if you want the 3pm games"
 
Oh thanks for that info. Why is it that they are not working even though im assuming they have purchased the rights to show them? That must be hitting their home based customers as well?
 
Tring is going the same way as DigitAlb a couple of years ago - their cheap cards have leaked out to the UK, and more than likely they have been told by FAPL to tighten up their access to 3pms to lock out the UK viewers, or lose their Prem coverage.
 
Tring goes off because people are sharing it and have badly configured emus, if you use a conax cam it will be fine. Or set up your emu correctly.
 
It may be batches of cards which are affected, it has happened before. In general the Albanian based subscribers have probably seen no halt in services, only the ones they suspect are not in Albania.
 
Also one UK supplier is rumoured to have been raided by the police and members of the FAPL enforcement team

OK this is where my newbie knowledge is lost. What is meant by sharing and badly configured emus? Is that something I can change my end?

Yes I read that about the raid, also its says on that forum that it all depends on the dealer selling the card, actually getting it activated. Do we know who is a trusted dealer of the cards as such to make them work?

Until then you may wish to read the following:

We were raided by The City of London Police, The EPL and MPS on Thursday 18th August 2011 at 5.30 AM under warrant. We maintain under a defence already lodged by our experienced legal Copyright teams in another case related to Tring Cards, that to sell these cards is not illegal and we fully intend to do so in the future, or until the law says otherwise.

We do not recognise the UK Registered Company Media Protection Services (MPS) as having any legal authority to enter ours or your premises at any time now or in the future. To emphasise this even when MPS arrived at our premises with the Police, I personally removed MPS immediately from our premises and in full view of the Police with their knowledge. MPS were told (in my usual polite manner) to vacate our premises and to never come back. I took great pleasure in watching them stood outside in the cold at 5.30 in the morning having to watch from a distance.

Remember only the Police with a warrant can enter your premises in relation to these cards and you have every right to remove MPS if they do call, or have them removed by the Police for trespassing if they refuse. Only Ofcom in the UK are authorised to police broadcasters or broadcasting legal issues they may have with subscription cards. Tring cards along with all other European cards are still not illegal in the UK until the UK Courts decide otherwise. Until then we maintain that although Albania is not yet officially a full European member state, they did sign the EFTA European free trade agreement in preparation for when they do join. That agreement has been in place since then and for trade purposes Albania is considered by Europe as a trading partner, as per the agreement signed in November 2010. Presumably the EPL knew of this agreement before they signed contracts with Tring TV and so we really cannot understand why they have issues with Tring TV only at this time instead of all European broadcasters.

The European Strasbourg Court gives their ruling on European cards this year and expected in early October 2011.

Tring cards may or may not be part of this ruling, depending on the UK Courts ruling on if these cards are to classed as European cards.

Everyone appears to be having issues on LJ's site as well as a few others.

Its irrelevant to your situation - loads of folk are having problems with their own cards in their receiver.
 
I had digitalb for 3 years but last year I changed to Tring. Obviously 3pm EPL and movies! Last week I ordered a new Tring plus card off e-bay and it won't clear. I've been offered my money back which I have accepted but what do I do now. Are all tring channels scrambled for good or is there a similar package I could get and where from?

When you say it would not clear what did you try ?
You need a conax cam to activate the card and then it should work under Oscam or Newcs
 
I took the old card out of the cam. . .put the new one in, It says 'module inserted. initializing' then 'not running or scrambled.
 
From memory you need to be on Tring super for the update, did you try that ?
