true movies

Hi everyone
I seem to have lost true movies 1 & 2 it just says no signal on my tele & no info is anybody else having this problem, can I get the chanels back Thanks:confused:
 
Moving to a more appropriate section.
 
Check on 11307,V,27500, they've moved from 11643.
 
Yes they have moved to that Freq.....Signal is lower than previous freq.
 
A true Freesat box would have been updated automatically. Can you confirm what satellite receiver you're running?

Only if left in standby overnight as the latest firmware does thus updating as "housekeeping" at 03.00.

If User turns off completely, they'll need to re-scan.

OK, if you're new first some terminology.

FTA (Free To Air) - can be viewed by any receiver without the use of a card. Has Now and Next programme information.
FTV (Free to View) - needs a card to be viewed (like $ly's subscription services) but it's a one-off purchase, not monthly.
Both above can apply to satellite and terrestrial transmissions.

Freesat - an FTA satellite service but with a special information stream that gives a seven day programme list and automatic channel/frequency change updating for certified Freesat receivers
Freeview - similar to Freesat except that it's a terrestrial service.
FSFS (FreesatfromSky) - this is the FTV service above which mixes in FTV channels with mostly FTA channels. This uses Sky's seven day programme list.

But then there's the Fortecstar! This isn't a certified Freesat receiver but it has a firmware patch which enables it to work almost like a proper one. Note "almost", not exactly! There's a problem at the moment with certain aspects of the Freesat emulation (I don't have the receiver myself but there are posts here about it) and what you describe may be another symptom.

Hope that helps to understand a bit more what's going on.
 
I've tried rescanning on my satellite receiver using the new frequency given for True Movies etc but the signal isn't strong enough for me to pick up - I just get a broken picture. No BBC news either. If anyone finds a way of rectifying this, would be really grateful to hear from them.
 
According to the footprint shown at this link -http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/eb1_fixed.html you need a dish between 75 and 95 cm at your location to receive 11307 v 27500 FEC 2/3. If you are getting a broken picture then you should easily pull it in with a bigger dish or maybe an upgrade to a top notch LNB such as an Inverto Black Ultra.

BBC News has moved to Astra 2D.

Thanks for that - my dish is 90cm and everything was fine before True Movies et al changed frequency. Will have a look for Astra 2D but I don't remember seeing it on my list of satellites (I am a complete novice when it comes to these things so, if I have to add it, I haven't the faintest idea how to do that).

One thing I'm not clear about though - what does FEC 2/3 actually mean - can't see it anywhere on my receiver data?

I guess I can manage without True Movies if I have to.
 
many receivers put the fec in automatically so you probably dont need that.

A 90cm dish is way too small for Astra 2D in the Costa Blanca - I assume you dont get any of thee BBC channels on your receiver.

I was responding to the fact that you said I needed a 75-90cm dish for True Movies. To be quite honest, I can live without BBC News and I can get BBC S4C (or something like that) and there's always Sky News. So will stop worrying about Astra 2D - and, you're correct, didn't get any BBC channels before although I did get BBC news funnily enough.

It's all a mystery to me lol.
 
No mystery. There are 4 co-located satellites utilising 8 transmission beams. One of these (the "Astra 2D beam") has a narrow coverage area The other beams spillout over the whole of Europe and are known as "wide beams"

Last week BBC News moved from a wide beam to the Astra 2D narrow beam, resulting in the channel loss to anyone outside the main coverage areas whose dish isnt big enough to get 2D.

As I said, don't care about BBC News but I would like to get the True Movies back again.

I've tried the new data (11307) and the picture is still garbled.
 
True Movies is broadcast from Eurobird 1

If you are receiving other channels, from this satellite, I suggest you check your set up, if your signal quality is low check your dish, LNB, and connections.

Bigger dish probably required, but first check the skew (twist) of the lnb - it may need moving a couple of mm.
