Ubuntu + Newcs + Cccam...

Hi guys ,

Manage to get it My Newcs under Ubuntu running 1rst time, however i have some point in form of direct questions to help me if i get right:

1. I see that many memebers saying that Newcs is local, so i would assume that you can not give N: lines to remote location? Y/N
2. I understood that if i need to share with remote location i would need to install CCcam?
3. Is the CCcam for the server is the normal cccam for DM, Emu 2.1.4 the lastest versition?
4. what files i need and where to put them in ubuntu 9.10 in order to install Cccam to share with remote location, what amendments i should be aware of?
5. Is best for more than one cards to let Newcs handle all reading, or is it possible to reader some with newcs and others with Cccam?

You are aware that sharing to avoid subs is illegal !

1. You can give N lines to remote BUT it is very bad as they can reshare as much as they want as you cannot control how many hops to reshare.
2. It is not required but check (1) - it is highly recommended. DO NOT EVER give out N-lines.
3. Yes. Just configure C: and F: lines.
4. Read the stickies.
5. Depends on the card - not all cams can read all cards.

Many thanks for your satisfactory answers .... this what i want to find out,
I think on your answer no. 3. you meant N and F lines, hence i would have no C lines as i am using Newcs for card reading.

I think he did mean C and F Lines

You have NewCS reading your Card and this is shared to CCcam as a client of the NewCS Server.

Now if you want to share it out further you would put an F line in your CCcam config to match up with the C Line you give out, so in this case CCcam is now the Server and the C Line is being used by a Client

Everthing being Kosha, your Client would now give you a C Line to match up with an F Line in his CCcam Config, so you can share his Local Card

So in your CCcam Config you have N Line as a Client to NewCS, F Line as Server to your Client, C Line as a Client to your Sharer

And yes, keeping track of all this can be a headache

Thanks for your explanation, now i got it, but i think in my case C line would not be used in Config at pc, hence i am not receiving share from outside... But i have got your point,

If i got it right, you can but even many C line in PC config this also would be available to your pc clients if you have right to reshare from another location...

I am looking into another idea at the moment, however, regarding the above, loosing track of one line, you would never be the same again!

Yes, thats right if you have extra Hops then these will be shared on to your Clients.

I put my F Lines in my Ubuntu Server to share out, but I put my C Lines in my DM800 hooked up to the Plasma to view.

The Ubuntu does the serious work, and the DM800 just ticks along dishing up my requirements.

What reader have you got reading your card in your Ubuntu server? If its a smargo then you can do away with NewCS and just use CCcam alone to read the card and do the serving. You will need CCcam 2.13 or higher. If Omnikey reader then your gonna have to keep your setup as it is now.

I am using serial reader at the moment, But my smargo will be delivered tomorrow or sat max.

Its really good news, I think it would be great to get rid of some newcs confgs, save the ubuntu extra port and memory.
I would then go straight for smargo with CCcam 2.1.4.

Have you got any idea which file to use, i mean cccam.x86 or .pcc or ...?

There is only 1 CCcam binary for a linux pc, it's called cccam.x86
