how do i scan for uhf channels on my technomate 5200d thanks

You can't: That is a Digital Satellite Receiver.

UHF carries Analogue and Digital Terrestrial signals.

Yup it'll be for the modulator. You cant scan for UHF channels on it.

For integrating into a local RF distribution system.

Will work very much like an old VCR (eg), or Sky Box, ie loop through any RF signals from elsewhere and also modulate the selected Satellite Channel onto the loop.

Its just a loop through for the channels carried by the rooftop antenna plus modulates its own internal signal onto the output so you can watch it via the aerial cable on some sort of distribution system.
