My Satellite Setup
My system: ARION-2000CICR, Samsung9500 VIACI, Twihhan DVB-S2 PCI, Terratec USB HD XS.
Motorized dish Triax 88A 85cm-95cm, STABHH100 motor, 1x Universal LNB.
My Location
Stockholm
Does anybody heard about LNB of the type Universal 2? I met mention about it on one website explaining how to get signal from ExpressAM1 at 40 east. I was surprised because never heard about such LNBs. The particularity was LOF1/LOF2 9750/10750.

Universal is Universal, the figures you mention are that of the standard Universal two band LNB.
 
Interesting this - my first reaction was exactly the same as rolfw's.

But a few moments of Googling shows that 9750/10750 is common in the USA and elsewhere.

I am still reading, so haven't really got to the nub of the whys and wherefores as yet.

Curious.

Here is an example of Universal LNB specifications:

* LO: 9.75 / 10.6 (or rarely 10.75) GHz (the 10.6 GHz Oscillator is selected by applying a 22 KHz tone to the cable)
* Freq: 10.7 - 12.75 GHz (slightly wider for 10.75 GHz LOs)
* NF: 0.7 dB (The Best LNBs have claimed values as low as 0.1 but it's unlikely that this is a true and reliable value)
* Polarisation: Linear
 
Ah sorry, must read more carefully.:) Having said that, can't see any real advantage in changing the LO from 10,600 to 10,750 on the higher band.

Standard North America Ku-band LNB

By covering a smaller frequency range an LNB with a better noise figure can be produced. Pay TV operators can also supply a single fixed polarization LNBF to save a small amount of expense.

Here is an example of a standard linear LNB:

* Local oscillator: 10.75 GHz
* Frequency: 11.7-13.2 GHz
* Noise figure: 0.5 dB
* Polarization: Linear
* Today, modern LNBs give 0.3 - 0.2 and now also 0.1 dB (noise levels during the transmission of signals)


I think I'm in danger of tying myself up in knots here - perhaps best to wait for an afficionado to give us the (succinct) low down ............

Still do not understand what advantage/disadvantage gives 10750 vs. 10600?
By the way the page I referred shows a receiver Lumax DV-728 which has an option in LNB menu to choose Universal 2. Quite amazing!
