Up Coming Launch Eutelsat 21B

I would say from the Eutel press release that 21B will test at or near 21.5E.


Lift-off occurred bang on time, at 21.05 GMT (on 10 November). Separation of the satellite from the launch vehicle occurred 28 minutes later. Manoeuvres to circularise the new satellite’s orbit and place it into its operational configuration are now underway, managed by Eutelsat from its Rambouillet teleport, using a global network of earth stations. This will be followed by in-orbit testing before EUTELSAT 21B enters full commercial service in mid-December.

Theres no time to have extensive testing and spends weeks drifting round from a distant IOT slot if they are expecting 21B in service in a month or so.

Now Eutelsat 21B seems to have found a test position at 31.7 East.
Frequency ranges: 10700...10950, 11450...11700 and 12500...12750.
Can't check myself, I'm away from home for a couple of weeks.

15 minutes later the signal was going down to a very low level of reception:

and some minutes later the signal was going up again till his highest level (around -31 dBm)

Must've checked that earlier when the tap was turned off. Will check again.
 
Last evening and night there was testing on band 10950...11200 and 11200...11450 MHz.
Right now 11200...11450 MHz tests again.

Finally Band A (10700-10950 MHz) was tested an hour ago.
So, Eutelsat 21B can operate in whole low band 10700...11700 MHz.

Im looking forward to having 21B on air at 21E - it should put a reasonable signal into the UK and with the main focus of the satellite being Africa there could be some interesting stuff appear on it :
 
There was new tests on Monday and Tuesday, new spectrums from me )
Subband 12500-12750 MHz was tested also. Thus, Eutelsat 21B can operate in 10700-11700 and 12500-12750 MHz (all FSS bands).
There was only 20 minutes of tests today. Seems the testing goes to finish.

Signals @ 21.6E are considerably stronger across the board this morning so it looks like 21B may already be active.
 
EUTELSAT 21B satellite in full commercial service
Longstanding 21.5° East orbital position takes on a new dimension
Paris, 18 December 2012 - Eutelsat Communications (Euronext Paris: ETL) today announced the full entry into commercial service of the powerful EUTELSAT 21B satellite at 21.5° East. The seamless transfer of all traffic from the EUTELSAT 21A satellite was carried out overnight by Eutelsat’s control centre, working in close collaboration with clients and providers of uplink services.

The EUTELSAT 21B satellite takes the 21.5° East position to a new dimension for users ranging from broadcasters to news agencies, telcos, enterprises and government administrations. The new satellite offers increased bandwidth (40 Ku-band transponders versus 29 on EUTELSAT 21A), higher power and improved flexibility. In addition to an enhanced Widebeam spanning Europe, North Africa and Central Asia, it features two dedicated high-energy beams covering North-West Africa and the Middle East/Central Asia optimised for data, broadband and professional video services. Customers now have the choice to operate services within a beam or to interconnect between beams.

EUTELSAT 21A will now be redeployed to 48° East where it will continue to provide full commercial service. The EUTELSAT 70B satellite, launched on December 3, is currently undergoing in-orbit testing and on track to enter service at 70.5° East in mid-January 2013.
