Satellites are designed to transmit 20 trillion cat pictures across the web every second.* Today’s communications satellites, such as SES-6, support a payload of over 70 transponders that take digital TV and data from ground stations and transmit the content to dishes around the world. SES-6’s payload consists of 43 C-band and 48 Ku-band transponders (36 MHz equivalent), delivering HD video, internet and mobile services from its 40.5° West location in geostationary orbit, covering North America, Latin America, Europe and the Atlantic Ocean.

Spacecraft SES-6 weighing more than 6 tons manufactured by Astrium based on the Eurostar 3000 platform. SES-6 will replace NSS-806 satellite at the orbital position of 319.5 degrees East and will provide direct services to digital broadcasting in the territory of America.

On the technical gas station Baikonur began the final operations prior to removal of a space rocket "Proton-M" with a European spacecraft SES-6 / "SES-6" at the launch site.
This morning the launch vehicle was removed from the assembly and test facility for fueling position (TZP) pl.31.
