Not getting anything on my 90cm dish in South Bucks (focus is on 1W). The usual strong signals from Astra 4A though.

Still nothing this morning. Can anyone confirm if it is still broadcasting and if it needs the pilot to be on or off please? Not looking good for my setup in the UK.

Pilot is on. The transponder parameters as reported by Crazyscan are still exactly like Llew posted here a week ago in #42. No change in signal strength either here, about 12.5 dB on the T-90.

Thanks, so it looks like my setup needs tweaking or the 90cm dish with the 6° offset LNB is too small just west of London. Astra 4A is around 70% quality on the Nordic beams and 80% for the European beams on my TM6900.

SES-5 is definitely weaker than Astra 4A. Haven't managed to obtain a lock on it just yet...

Yes, still the same now here as reported then (~10dB C/N).

Is there a modulation on this transponder or is it still a carrier? Don't think Dr HD will lock on a blank carrier.

Yes CJ, the F15 will find it if it's a modulated carrier - if you can eventually lock it.

12.1 dB C/N here on the F15, a couple of dB's better than my TBS6925 card can manage :)

This is on your 1.2m Gibby, right?

Shame - I get 12db on Astra 4A HD channels but it's really reluctant on SES-5 :( Current reading is between 1.4dB and 1.8dB and it doesn't fluctuate beyond that.

This difference is strange, the S/N on my F16 or TBS6925 agree within 0.1 dB, also so far never noticed any significant difference on other signals.
The TBS6925 is after the loopthrough of the F16 (that does the DiSEqC switching), maybe you have a different arrangement?

Yes, the Gibby 1.2. I need to move the dish a few pulses left of 4A for max signal (I'm using a separate positioner) as of course it's about half a degree east of 4A. But even leaving it on 4A I still lock the TP easily.

I simply swop the cable between the two. A typical spare room lashup, cables and boxes everywhere :-rofl2

OK, checked the figure again with the TBS6925. This time immediately after checking with the F15, with no change in dish position - I expect that I was not perfectly aligned on the satellite with my last report. Now it's almost the same dB level as with the F15 -

Will this satellite remain at 5.2E (as per Flysat) or will it eventually move over to 4.8E like Astra 4A? Just thinking that a light nudge westwards will move the footprint more over erm... me.

As itst using the 5.2E position for testing, I would think it would move over to the 4A 4.8E slot eventually when commissioning is complete.

See my post #66. Or, even better, check my satellite list here: Geostationary satellites from 70° West to 90° East
You won't find them more accurate and up to date (I hope...) :D
I invite everyone for comments or corrections to make it even more perfect!

But where is the satellite now? At 5.2E or 5.0E? 0.2 of a degree can make all the difference for those on the edge of the footprint.

Like I said in post #66 and on the list it's 5.0 East "center of box" since at least a week.
TLE of 2 days ago had it at 4.94 East to be exact, but deviations of about +/- 0.1 is normal.

Gotcha - then I hope a little tweaking to my dish will bring this signal in....

Doubt you'll get it in Israel. The northern fringes start in southern Sudan...
