Strong carrier here in Mid East Anglia.

Is the carrier still on? If it is, no sign of signal here...

till recently nothing here do u think it's going just to mpeg4

It's still pumping it out. 42dBm here using the Gibertini 1.2M.

Any other reports, particularly to the North and West of the UK?

Peak here of 42.7db ish.

So what ya getting then

They're just testing for power levels, so just analogue signals, no digital info as yet.

Ok, finally I've got it! The signal is quite low here, but there is no doubt it is the testing carrier of SES-5 at 11318H.

Yup, that's the one. Nothing else testing within that frequency range yet. Weekend break I suppose.

Tried again this morning but still seeing nothing in Cband..
..
will keep trying during the day tho'

Well ..my guestimation was certainly accurate enough for Christinas placement on the arc ..
Got frustrated with the lack of carrier on C band ..so popped the 'stripped down ferret' invacom ku lnb into the cband lnbs throat ..and checked for this Horizontal ku carrier..11316 H
didn't even have to adjust ...there it it was ..
So am on target ...just nothing in evidence from C band.
:(

Still testing on that frequency. No sign of life elsewhere in the band - no hurry, are they, to carry out further testing.

Maybe they are testing on the other footprints outside of Europe. Can anyone in southern Africa have a look?

A lot of C band activity around this location atm ..
Got to go to work now ..so not really time to investigate further..
A blank unmodulated peak at 3966 R
and the same test/promo loop at 3797 and 3920 R

So maybe these are the new bird ..but maybe they are from 3 East..
Anyone want to check em out ?

Eutelsat (fourth screenshot) and SES-5 don't really match, most probably the transmission comes from 3 east...

Btw, flysat reports that 3766H, 3797H (actually 3800 there) and 3920H come from Eutelsat 3A.

..wouldn't surprise me strs...
very close indeed as I've said already ...and the overspill in cband is considerable.

SES-5 @ 5.1 East, now also DVB-S2 signal: 11265V 30000 3/4 8PSK.
Strong signal here, about 5 dB more than Astra 4A.

Receiving it in Helsinki but it's of similar signal levels to the Astra 4A European beams, and lower than the Nordic beams by a couple of dB.
