Upper band Ka reception

TS Analyser just shows it as bog-standard H262 MPEG video.

Ah, CAT PID=1, but no encryption system shown. One of Tandberg's specials I suppose.

Yep I guess it is a special ..
it is SiS after all ...
They don't give that stuff away ..lol
 
Keep us updated on anything interesting VS. Off to Promax HQ tomorrow to get someone to check my meter. Won't boot up :(

Would have liked to have seen what the analyser makes of these feeds.

Finally got this scanned into the F15 ..
Sadly no picture present ..
Either it's insufficient sig strength ..
OR
more likely a proprietory 4:2:2
form..
Still ..here is the proof ..
Tried locking with the TBS card ..and crashes VLC ..but got a fragmented image posted up in The Sat PCI card section of the forum.

Ok ..starting to look more like ..lack of signal ..
left the F15 running and got a brief image of an office scenario ??
the sig level promptly dropped again ..hence the overlay ..

Looks like I'm on my own with this one ..
Sporadic lock at best but managed to grab a couple more images from the F15
Clearly it's a newslink feed ...
Swapping from the internal image from the News office to OBs ..

Yes, I had that 'enhanced' Turbo stream on another KA feed here, I'm sure it resolved OK, I'll try and find it.

BTW, there's actually two carriers around that SiS feed, one on 18556V and 18560V. Still can't lock either though.

Will check this later Llew ..but another feed right next to the MIPAAF feed presumably H ..
arrived this morning ..
Identifies as PISA and showing colour bars..
18755 SR4500 ..
I'm currently watching it to see what we get..

Sorry Llew ..it must be terribly frustrating ..
This is my scan of about 5 minutes ago of the Horizontal ..
The only things the scan picks out are Penthouse 3D and that SIS Newsfeed..
I dont see another peak on the scan ..but then if unmodulated it wouldn't be picked up ?
Is it modulated (18560H)
As to why you are having trouble ..
Maybe there IS a circular component to SiS ..and thats why the SL3 is finding it easier..

Remember the SL3 is really a circular polarised LNB ..just adapted to pick up linear as a compromise.
Very often I'll scan Vertical ..and see small traces of Horizontal transponders and vice versa ..
Unavoidable with SL3 ..

You could always treat yourself to one and mod it ..but you'd also need an sup-2400 bbc module

Only getting about 7.5 > 8 db on the SiS feed atm ..but occasional burst of motion video on VLC ..so a couple of vlc snaps taken ..
Definately a theshold thing I think ..and craches VLC often as not.

Yes, I meant Vertical on that SiS feed, sorry.

When I stretch the scan out on the Promax, it does show two distinct carriers as in the screenshots earlier. Maybe it is just one with a sharp drop in the centre?

I may be wrong, but I can't really see what difference the circular LNB makes, as I get a perfectly formed, strong waveshape on that frequency; if there's a -3dB loss it doesn't show in the signal strength I'm getting.
 
btw ..the F15 cannot resolve SiS Newsnet at all ..atm ..even though it's locked ..
My guess the video is 4:2:2..

Tried the F15 on it earlier, no green signal bars, no lock. So not a Crazyscan issue with me. The quest goes on...

BTW, is it still the same SR?
 
12.2dB now. Still no show.
