I have a feeling it'll be like when the telecom lnbs came out with a strange local osc. frequency. I didn't have much knowledge as I was a bit too young then, but if memory serves right, they were fairly rare to begin with. It may be feasible to modify an American directv lnb to cover the upper ka bands.

Edit: Had far too much sauce. The directv lnbs are also circular polarised.

Not a sausage VS. Probably all going to the Nilesat broadband internet company who are mentioned in the LNB blurb.

Also emailed that Jin fellow at XMW who you mentioned earlier regarding the R9000. No reply from him either, although I don't suppose I can stretch to the price of their LNBs in any case (unless Lady Luck obliges on the gee gees!)

If they do start marketing the lnb as a seperate item where you are Solly ..and only available in Nilesats footprint area.
Don't be surprised if you get requests from interested parties in the UK ..

Wanting to get a foothold with KA Band transmissions to Europe in general and the UK in particular, I've splashed out on a KA Band LNB (9126HDF) covering the upper band of 21GHz. Outrageously expensive at £500 a throw from XMW Korea, I may be considered somewhat doolally to even think of buying one LNB at that price, but twenty years ago I was buying stuff like an SMW LNB for getting on 200 quid (real terms today, £340).

Anyway, I've stuck it on the end of my Gibby, and will be trying for the 7E and 16E African KA channels.

Watch this space.

OK, a first try on Eutelsat 7A TPA Internacional DVB-S 20501H SR 2442 FEC 2/3.

I've done no precise focussing of the LNB on the arm, just clamped the feed to where I assume is correct. LNB positioned in the horizontal plane.

Only the one TP receivable at present.

Using TBS 6925 PCI card with Crazyscan, Gibertini 1.25 dish.

Weather conditions as at 0900 PM, Cloudless sky, 20 Deg C, 38% humidity

Eutelsat 16A Equinoxe TV 21540H SR 1071 FEC 3/4. LTM TV 21543H SR 1071 FEC 3/4. Golfe TV 21560H SR 1010 FEC 2/3. All DVB-S2.

Same setup as with 7E. Blindscanning still gives me just the *three TP's missing out the TP's in between the three above. Problem may be that the frequencies are so close together.

I'll try later with the DR HD F15 box.

Yes, I had to update to the latest Crazyscan version and Streamreader to facilitate inserting the LO of the LNB, as the version I had wouldn't accept the 20250 GHz needed.

The carrier width of these TP's are so narrow it's very difficult to pinpoint a lock in Crazyscan.

..Sold a refurbished 42 inch LCD today for £200 ..which has bumped up my pot to just shy of £500
..but the postage as well leaves it just out of reach ..
So ..going to tap my dad for a loan for the difference..
Hopefully I too will soon be cruising upper Ka band.
No you're not mad Llew ..just a bit mental ....but then ..so am I

Yes VS, I received a reply from jin eventually, and went ahead and ordered the LNB + Feed. The Feed is really dimensioned for lower KA band reception (see screenshots), but seems adequate using on a Gibertini 1.25. I also tried it on a Triax TD88 with some success on 16E (screenshot). Can't try 7E on the Triax, no view of it where it is ATM.

It's odd that on the Gibby using TBS6925 I get an excellent C/N and BER 0 on the channels shown in my previous post, but fail to get a lock on some other channels on the TP's. They must be there on the signal peak, just difficult to get the TBS's tuner to lock anywhere other than the channels already found. Same with a Skystar Xpress pc card on the Triax.

The price I paid was as quoted to you VS. Just have to go another year or so before I change the car!

In preparation for ordering my lnb ...I figured it prudent to also update my crazyscan ..
Which version do you currently use ..and which version of streamreader ?

Just poped in a Rick Taylors only to find later versions of Crazyscan are listed in 2 versions now
Crazyscan and crazyscan2 ..
Why is is this and what is the difference ?
cheers buddy

Crazyscan2 is for DVB-T, DVB-C and US ATSC. I wanted to try it with my PCTV DVB-T2 stick, but its driver isn't supported.

The last Crazyscan version 1.0.1.77 I'm using, but I had to ask Crazycat to get the KA-Band LO option not to default to 18250 whenever I next used Crazyscan if I had used 20250. You can D/L the revised 1.0.1.77 in Crazycat's reply to me in Rick's Wildfeed section Crazyscan - BLScan Software Discussion Thread.

Thanks for the info Llew ..I'll sort that tomorrow..
I've stayed up late so that I could get my order in when Jin starts work in Korea..
Many hours time difference as you know.
..and it doesn't matter how quick you say it does it ...
1000$ leaving your account still hurts like hell don't it..
lol
Still ..it's done now.
..and I too got the lower invoice thing..
Makes sense as this stops customs from creasing you with extra charges ..
Presumably..
