21682 H which has been a solid lock for a couple of days ..below threshold today.

The only new OB I locked today was GC_Kenya_Path2
21691 3099
Even after I had been out and dried the Gibby and the feed with towel.
..and still the drizzle comes..
Typical Manchester weather.

I wonder if the NeverWet spray system from Rustoleum actually works ?
expensive but might be worth it ..
Anyone ?

My TBS6925 card has developed a problem VS. It either loses the LNB voltage half way through a Crazyscan, or I just get noise spikes on the scan (no LNB voltage out to the LNB at all).

I'm now using the Technisat Skystar eXpress HD card retrieved from my other PC, which does the same job, and it's considerably faster scanning and blindscanning in Crazyscan compared to the TBS 6925. Only downside is that I can't use the TBS progams, e.g. TBS Recorder.

Works well with other viewer progs too, e.g. DVBViewer, DVB Dream etc.

@VS - a good time to catch 2S i Racines and 2STV now. Can't recall receiving them before, seem to fire up during the evening up until the morning. They're coming in down here at ~10dB, with my Triax TD88.

7E 21563H, 21565H.

...and wouldn'y you know it..
Can't refit the Ka lnb atm ..
The 1.5 still in the post apocalypse adjustment phase ..
Prolly Sunday before I get Ka back on line
:(

Ok mate. They've been active for a couple of days at that strength, I'll keep a lookout for them over the next days.

Any tips on buying a Ka-band LNB?
Where to buy for a reasonable price?
How to receive Astra 1L (18359-18762 MHz)?
And I guess there's no change one LNB can receive more than one band like a Universal LNB on Ku band?

No particular tips as such except for some ideas posted in this thread, particularly by Vipersan and his Direct TV/Hughes LNB conversions. No 'Universal' Ka LNB available, all very expensive as you need to buy one for each Sub-Band (Norsat divides each frequency spectrum into four Bands).
Band B covers the frequencies you are interested in, but there are no cheap LNB's available. Norsat 9000 series for any of the Bands might cost you upwards of 1000 GBP. XMW (http://www.xmw.co.kr/bbs/list.php?board_id=s_lnb) do Ka Band LNB's that might work out a little cheaper. Might be worth your while contacting them.

Maybe one day the likes of Inverto will wake up and provide mass-market LNB's to cater for Ka Band enthusiasts' needs, but pigs might fly until then.

Ouchie. Was hoping to fit a Ka-band LNB to my soon-to-be-installed 1.5m Gibby but LNBs seem to cost much more than the dish they are attached to. Will give this a miss for now... sadly.

Couldn't resist Llew ..
Threw on the Ka band D lnb ..
Dish not yet optimised but the signals are good n strong from the 2 transponders you highlighted..
Here are my non optimised results..
Nice..
good catch buddy ..and thanks for the heads up.
Enjoying the Bee Gees concert atm ..
Making me pine for my lost youth..

Excellentos VS

Good to see big dish Carl is in action :D

Those TP's seem to disappear into the noise or are off later in the morning, perhaps that's why we have just been unlucky in choosing when to search for them?

I can probably find you the contact details for the guy who can obtain DRO versions of the single polarity linear Ka lnbs (without feeds)
They have to be re-imported from Canada and will cost approx £120 each.
BUT they are old stock no longer produced ..so when they are gone ..they are gone forever.
Assuming he still can get them..
Both myself and Llew obtained the band A version ..but took a while to get 'em.
Let me know ..and I'll dig in my old emails ..

Keep in mind DRO isn't as stable as PLL ..and why presumably production was ceased.

You were spot on Llew ..
Reception on both ceased VERY abruptly approx 1 minute ago..

Thanks for the offer, VS, but £120 is a bit much for something like this for now. I was hoping to spend a max of around £50.

Will a Saorsat LNB get me anything (I am out of footprint for 9E here I suspect).

In a word ..No ..
Nothing available except in Eire and certain locations in Western UK ..
As you say Saorsat only..
Your best bet for a cheap alternative is a modified SL3 ..
Which will give you limited access to Ka bands A and C ..not B or D
..and will require the in line converter..
Sorry CJ ..You could always sell the Captains intendeds engagement ring ??

..and as quickly as they both dissappeared ..both came back at 8db approx ..
Ahhh the vaugeries of mysterious Ka

..and gone again ..
THAT is one tight focussed....floating footprint...

@ Llew ..I have a question for you ..
As you know we can put the LO frequency in the F15 using the 'single lnb' option and thus use it accurately in Ka band ..
But can you use the integral scanner analyser option in your F15 ..or do you just get a flat response with no peaks ?
I do ..but you are using a more recent firmware ..which is why I ask ?
