USB to DV connction.

My Satellite Setup
Master Focus 90cm .Gigablue UHD Quad 4K on TM 2600 motor. *Tm 5402 HD M3, *Atemio Nemesis. *Not Used.
My Location
Southern England
I was wondering whther to get a seperate hard drive for my Tecnonate 6900 or will a usb to DV cable work on my existing Pioner hard drive recorder. I don't need a sperate hard drive for any reason but would like to record some things. :confused:
 
If you want to go that way then why not output on an HDMI cable or component. My Panasonic DVD recorder has an HDMI connection so if you have that or component you could connect that way. I think I'd prefer a small physically sized HDD with about 350 or 500gig on it tucked away.
 
:) Many thanks, its probaly better to contain it all and not get involvd with the Pioner recorder. Any idea of a good make that is compatible with the Technomate, after all they are not that expensive.

What is the Pioneer model number ?
Since it already has a hard disk, then it would make the process of making a DVD a lot easier than recording to a hard disk on the satellite receiver.
I have a Pioneer recorder also and a Dreambox with hard disk and I don't bother to record to the box anymore because of this.

Update:
I am not sure about a USB to DV cable connection.
If the DV is on the Pioneer, then it might work only with a DV-DV cable, i.e. used only with a camcorder.
 
Its a Pioneer 433H and I agree recording to a DVD would be very straightforward. I suppose whats another cable amongst the bundle thats already there. I know the Technomate USB port at the front is handy for connecting to a computer but its a bit untidy for connecting a HDD. One at the front and back would have ben alot better, but its down to costs I suppose.

:-DOH2Blimey! Am I being a real thicko. I had a look at the back of the DVD recorder and the Technomate and they both have 2 scart sockets. So it looks as if I can use these to connect up. :confused: It will still be a nightmare with all the connections. Time for an all wireless set up, just think, you could place the bits anywhere and get rid of the tangld web of wires.
 
Connect to AV2 SCART on the Pioneer (Input/Output) or to Input 3 (RCA connectors). The AV1 SCART connector is for output only.
 
Why tie up two machines to make one recording? The concept of PVR's is that they are standalone receiver/recorders.
 
I will go for the seperate HDD as the dvd recorder can be usd to record from the freeview channels. Also I wasn't sure if I recorded HD TV on the Pioneer DVD recorder it would play back in HD as it does not have an HD output.
