Post your "must have" browser addons!

Mine current top 3 are

Ad Block Plus (on a 2.5meg connection ads slow page loading considerably - 5 seconds to load a single page whilst all the ad scripts load is not acceptable).

FB Purity (aka facebook purity) highly configurable & allows facebook users to get rid of the junk on the site - Im not the slightest bit interested in what z grade so called celeb is trending so boom its gone)

Firefox classic theme restorer - older iss better :D

Definitely my favourite. I liken it to noise-cancelling headphones - they just take away all the stuff I neither need nor care about. Funnily enough, they don't take away the ads on this site?? B-)

I had Adblock installed for a while but it slowed down the loading of pages so much I uninstalled it.

I heartily recommend four further Subscriptions for ABP (Over and above the usual Easylist):

Prebake (gets rid of many of the stupid EU induced Cookie advisory nags)

AdBlock Warning Removal List

Fanboy's Annoyance List

Peter Lowe's List

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

As I'm on Pale Moon, ABP has issues, so they recommend AdBlock Latitude which is made just for Pale Moon, the only other addon I use is myibidder which allows me to add auto-bids for ebay items right from the ebay listing... :)

I'll have to have a look at those additional lists for adblock though...

Foxclocks (Firefox & Chrome) - Adds a bar at the bottom of your browser and let's you add times from around the world. Can be very very useful, especially when I need to buzz a friend a message that lives on the other side of the world (or not depending on their timezone!) and most recently came in good use for Chasing Midnight.

FoxClocks

HeaderTool (Firefox) - Simply modifies the headers in a webpage. Why is this any good you might ask? You can use it to fool a website into thinking you are in another country without the need for a VPN or a DNS unlocker. It works on most of the Scandinavian broadcaster sites (I use it to watch live streams of Denmark, Sweden & Finland's national channels)

Header Tool

(Here's my config - if you want to try it simply copy and paste this text into the Notepad style box that's displayed once the extension is installed. Flick the ON button and you should find the official sites for SVT, DR, NRK & YLE to name a few are available to watch live Header Tool - Pastebin.com)

This is an interesting one.Lightbeam for firefox.Developed by mozilla I think.
It shows all the trackers on the sites that you visit.Triangles are trackers. This is todays tally up to now.:)Satellites.co is on the right.
Another one that I use is Privacy Badger it blocks trackers. Thus you get few adds or banners.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
I set up IE 11 (Yes, I KNOW a lot of people hate it anyway and move to something else, but it's OK for me!) to flag for me to accept or reject both 1st & 3rd party cookies - only accept a few 1st party and no 3rd party ones. Must change that to automatically the latter!

After seeing it mentioned by a couple of Members on other Topics, I've installed Ghostery on both Firefox and Edge.

Really good at speeding up page loading by minimising the intrusion of Trackers etc. I started by simply disabling everything possible, then selectively re-enabling stuff I actually wanted eg Facebook Social Plug-Ins. That's made dead easy by clicking on a Ghostery notification.

ABP for Firefox now has issues with it dumping the Filter List whenever it feels like it.

The in-thing now is the uBlock Origin add-on, which was mentioned in passing earlier in the Thread.

I still use ad blocking dns set in the router.

All devices have adverts blocked, they really become a pain when using 4g.

As many Firefox Extensions are soon to be rendered inoperative, once FF 57 is launched. I've been casting around for an alternative to the LiveClick RSS Feed add-on, which the author has stated he's not proposing to morph into the required new Web Extension format.

I've come up with "Brief".

Although currently using legacy architecture, it is going to be converted to WX.

I've been running it for a couple of days now, and I actually find it better than LiveClick.
