I have the acme version, only used for vertical positioning (not much movement needed). As far as I understand, the ball screw is much more silent, however some 50% costlier.

I have one on the 3.4m but it must be coming up to 20 years old. It is very noisy.

i mail to feedsat for information
yesterday i make many tests : 3 different actuator with long cable and everything is OK , i made some improments on pulse interface and motor command .
i have magnetic wheel with 32/40/48 pulse inch (4/5/6 pole per turn) same results OK !!
