Verifying DMI Pool Data....Success

I've just updated one of my desktop PC's to windows 7 which did appear to have instaled fine apart from now when I boot up the PC it hangs on "Verifying DMI Pool Data....Success" and will not go any further ! I've tried pressing F12 during startup which allows me to select boot from DVD and re-install the windows 7 from disc but again the same problem.

I've searched the problem on google and seems like it could be a bios problem but dont want to play with those settings without getting some advice first.

So now i'm stuck .... any help guys ?

Sounds like it needs a BIOS update to me... :)
 
Boot from the dvd and use the repair section.

Think it is a bad file.
 
Thanks dig selecting repair did the trick and windows 7 is now starting up fine.

Is it me or does windows 7 look very much like vista & xp ? What changed ?

It's faster, once you turn off the "Do you want to allow soandso.exe to make changes to your hard drive" nonsense, the appearance of some folders are different, but that's all I can say, everything else is pretty much as it was in XP... :)
 
Well, it is faster than XP and Vista. Runs rather smooth, no hick-ups so far.

Still it is Windows lol

So how do I turn off the "Do you want to allow soandso.exe to make changes to your hard drive" nonsense.

Well I upgraded my desktop PC that was crashing everyday with the blue screen memory stack dump error and touch wood since upgrading to windows 7 I've not had any crashes. But would still love to get my hands on Mac but can't justify spending that sort cash at the moment.
 
Well You always upload Ubuntu to start with, lates version comes with an bootable dvd so You don´t have to install it, just run it from the disk

I think it's in the security setting or notifications thing in the control panel, I've had a fiddle, but still getting the messages, But it's only when I install stuff, so, I suppose that's ok, handy if a virus decides to have a go at installing itself, and you can just say no... :)

Used Macs are ten a penny on ebay, thing is if it's not the latest thing, you'd be stuck as to what programs you can run on it, they're not as easy to upgrade as PCs are as they have tu use bespoke hardware, unlike the pretty much interchangeable stuff a regular PC... :)

The Memory Stack Dump thing sounds more like it's a hardware fault though, probably an iffy memory stick that's on it's way out, you may want to check that before it gives up... :)
