Hello,

I have recently bought a DM800 and thinking of buying either Aljazeera sports or ART Arabesque viewing card. Both I think use Viaccess 3.

Will I be able to just insert the card in the DM800 and start watcing the encrypted channels? Or is it more difficult than that?

You'll need to use a Cam Emulator (SoftCam) to read the card as the 800 doesn't have a CI slot. Popular emu's are, CCcam, Evocamd, MGCamd etc etc. You will ofcourse need to research whether any of the latest Emu's are capable of reading this card. I cannot help there I'm afraid. Maybe some other users can advise.

If the card cannot be read directly, it may be possible to host the card with the popular card server NewCS. If so you can then connect to NewCS with CCcam to access the card. This would take some setup as its very important you get them right. Your first port of call is to identify which software is compatible with this card. Do some reading, Do a lot of reading, google is your friend.
 
Yes its possible.I have one of the cards you had mention.Since you see people sharing any card,its because obvisouly people are using DM or similar box.

To read Aljazeera Sports Card you need to put this lines in your CCam.cfg:

#SERIAL READER: /dev/sci0
SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY: /dev/sci0 5600000
TRY ALL CHIDS : /dev/sci0
B: /dev/sci0 00
AU = yes

If you dont put this lines , the card will not be recognized,i had the same experience.Its working for me now...

yes and both cards works fine for me with gbox and cccam
 
Where exactly can I find the CCam.cfg:
I`m having problems getting this card working,

Yes, all linux dreamboxes have the same config
 
What about the activation of the viaccess 3 cards. Is it possible to activate them with these receivers or a viaccess 3 cam is necessary?
 
Not sure about activation but the CCcam.cfg file location differs depending what box you're using.
For Enigma1 boxes it is /var/etc as mentioned but for enigma2 boxes which was mentioned in the opening post the file is located in /etc

Hi,
For my DM800 I have installed a plug-in SCAM (latest version) and after, from the blue button select the AUTOCAM then added the services to use SCAM, then everytime you select that service it will switch to SCAM.
Smartcard should be chip facing down.
