Hi Guys,

I need some help with playing back movies on TV with the Dreambox from PC.
I just installed VLC and Mediaplayer plugins on my DM 5620. VLC is also running on my PC. Still I'm not able to send the stream to the Dreambox. CIFS works fine so it is not a network problem. I also changed the VLC plugin config file but I see nothing to be played. I see nothing when I start Mediaplyer either. My questions:
Do I need cifs to make the VLCs connected?
How to configure VLC on the PC to send the stream? Do I have to enter login and password somewhere?

I tried cifs to play back a DVD (I don't have a DVD-player, just in my PC). I could mount the DVDROM and started File Mode, chose a VOB file and could see the picture. But no sound! Both audio channels were AC3. Do you know any plugin which converts AC3 to normal stereo so I could hear the movie on my TV? (I have no digital input on my TV and the HiFi amplifier)

I appreciate any help.

i did this once and got it working.... search the threads its there somewhere.

i found it didnt work, although i got sound and picture, there was issues with audio sync and choppiness??? (wired network) whatever i did the picture was jumping.

now i just use my Xbox :) its networked to the pc with a wireless hub, along with my dreambox. I can send any files to the xbox... and i mean any!! Vobs, Mpg, Xvid, DivX, Avi, Wma etc etc it plays them all :)

i tend to get full series of programs on the hard drive before i start watching... like seasons 1-4 of CSI and the 1st season of Dr who, and the first 4 season of charmed for the misses :)

as you can see, i gave up on the Dreambox... even though the dreambox has a 300gig drive and the xbox only has a 120gig one in :(

Thanks a lot! I will try the method. Though it would be nice to have a small program in the Dreambox which can convert AC3 to analog stereo.

Regards

Yes, that would be nice.

Have a look at all the plugins at sat-industry.net - you never know. You can also contact a bunch of willing developers over there on the forum that may even write you one!

They have in the past...

i use, and i prefer dreamtsman, its a smal program to instal in your pc, you may connect to your reambox with it and when you download a file from dreambox it wil automaticly convert to 1 file, than you may use another program to ply it i prefer vlc (i always use latest versio) it works for me.
