VU+ Advice

Brian, if you get stuck get me on Skype.

Nothing wrong with VIX, its no more annoying than any other firmware available out there. As for the based on OpenPli comment i always assumed that VIX was closer to OpenATV basecode which again is another good image.

Its all down to what floats your boat at the end of the day whilst deciding what image to use.

As for the comments regarding the images teams forums, I've had my hand smacked on most of them, you only have a tendency to get narky comments if you post something that either offends or is total swablocks, That much i know from experience.

Just find an image you like and stick with it. I hardly ever update my boxes now, if an image works and does what it says on the tin then i'm happy.

If you want to try something a lot less mainstream Have a look at the Powerboard, OpenLD and PKT images for your box i have found them to be good images that work very well.

There is a new VU+ 4K model due out, sometime soon, but you can find all technical information, for available models, on the VU+ website.
Code:

I have the VU+ Duo 2, which I can highly recommend, although it is a bit more expensive, than other models.

available now here:

No image support for that box.
VTi had an image release a couple of days ago.
No BSP yet for other teams to get started.

I mean real image. I.e. PLi or OE-A based.

VTi is a Vu+ only image.

Sorry but you'd have to be pretty brave to buy a new box this early on. Wait at least a few months until all the bugs - and there will be many - are ironed out.

well after all this reading and searching on the internet , i bought a wetek for the tuner, and i must say im really happy with it. it does scan really well. anybody tried it ou yet?

Wetek is not a serious satellite receiver, just like a Vu+ is not a dedicated media player. Both do well in their respective role, but not as well their non-dedicated role.
