VU+ Duo set up - help!

Are you using USALS, or did you set up the Disecq 1.2 options?

What are you doing via the web interface? Selecting channels, or just moving your dish using the menu?

I’m using USALS. Scanning is going perfectly fine.

on the web interface I’m just changing channels. That’s working fine and I’m able to watch them on the receiver. But when I change channels with the remote, the dish isn’t moving. Very strange.

Try one satellite, and transponder, at a time.
Manually scan in a transponder, then, on a satellite, e.g. 19.2E, then save those channels in a bouquet, next move to 13E, scan a transponder, which should be now listed in the Last Scanned Bouquet, and try switching between channels in 19.2E Bouquet, and Last scanned Bouquet, and see if the motor moves.

I set up a bouquet on the box and then added the channels on the web interface since that's quicker, and I tested on my laptop and even my phone and it worked great. Then I checked the box, and after a reboot it was working well. But then after one move, it wouldn't budge. I rebooted again since I'd made changes to the bouquet, and again the dish didn't move. The strange thing is the box doesn't seem to remember the time, because when I reboot it says 01.01.1970 00:00.
I tried to get it working through the web interface and now it's not working either. It seems very tempremental: if I reboot a few times it will work, but then it will suddenly stop.

It might be a cable, connection, or LNB problem, as some LNB's can be problematic, with some receivers.
I'd contact your supplier, explaining the problems, you're experiencing, and see if they want to replace the receiver, or know about the problem.

I think it’s come to that point. It seems like when I switch on the receiver, sometimes I can get the dish to move and other times not. For example, I went to a favourite channel and the dish didn’t move. Then I went to manual tuning, which defaults to the transponder of the channel you’re on, and this caused the dish to move. Then I got a picture. But the moment I exited, the dish didn’t move yet I still didn’t get a picture. I haven’t had a consistent experience with it yet. It’s a shame, once I started setting up the favourites list I could see how good the box could be, but this doesn’t seem right. Thanks so much for the help so far!

It is a great receiver, according to other owners, and can do so much more, than just view satellite channels, once set up.
It needs testing, to find out if the problem is with a faulty receiver, or something else.
Please keep us updated.

I've had an issue like this with an old XSAT410 receiver, and a very long cable of not all too good quality. When I used another temporary (shorter) cable, all went well.
So how long is your cable? And is it copper, or (just) CSS-cable (copper cladded steel)?

My solution, I must confess, was using another receiver that didn't have these issues in combination with the long cable and the motor.

The cable isn’t too long, maybe 15m in total as the TV is close to the wall where the dish is mounted.
I do feel like the issue is to do with the receiver because even on the web interface things seem to work a bit more smoothly.

There have been issues, with tuners, coming slightly unseated, during shipping, and retailers sometimes requesting owners to re-seat them, if loose.
Don't do this until you've reported all your problems, including the inability to scan in the French multistream channels.

Coming at it with fresh eyes this morning, it does seem like something's wrong with the receiver, perhaps in a setting that I haven't found yet. When I use the web interface, or even the Apple TV app, things work perfectly. Yet the receiver just doesn't move the dish. It's as if there's a setting somewhere that's stopping it (for example on the web interface or the app you choose whether you want the receiver to change channels as well as the app; if this setting is On it doesn't seem to work, when I turn it off it does work).

That doesn't explain the intermittent fault, as the web interface didn't seem to work, at some point.
You could try the other tuner, and set it up again.

I have read that some hard drives, can cause problems, try switching off your receiver, at the rear, removing the hard drive, and start a fresh installation, and setup.

Now, I don’t want to jinx it, but I think I might have figured it out. The second tuner was set to “mirror Tuner A”, and for some reason the box sometimes defaulted to Tuner B, which isn’t connected to anything. I’ve disabled Tuner B and that seems to make it work correctly.

Still a few things to figure out like the french multistream but we’re getting there!

Haha indeed!

On the French multistream thing, for some reason the transponder list doesn't contain them but I was able to fill the details manually. The lack of blind scan is... interesting. Anyway, the signal seemed to jump up and down a bit: it would go from 60% to 0% and go between locking and not locking.

I'm a little confused (recurring theme!) about what the fine tuning option is supposed to do? I'm guessing it doesn't really do anything for USALS because you can't seem to edit the satellites.

I use fine tuning for my Diseqc 1.2 setup, with USALS you can adjust the Longitude settings, to adjust for problems with your dish.

Ok, I think I no longer hate the box. I’ve been able to tweak it to get one French multistream TP so there’s hope there. I’ve started to use some of the more fun features so I’m feeling the benefit of the outlay!

Now to figure out the remote control mapping (who on earth picked the functions in the first place!), adding live streams to the bouquets and sorting out the EPG.

You still have KODI, and many other features, to configure yet.

If you want to get your motor back to it's correct position, you can 0 the motor, it usually has a feature to do this, then you can start afresh. What make/model motor do you have?

I've got a Technomate TM2300M3. It should be OK to tweak it in the USALS settings I think.
