Hi Guys

One of my old WD External HDD power unit stopped working so decided to take out the HDD and use it for the Vu+ Uno.

Its about 5.5inches x 4inches, so I am guessing its a 5.25drive I think!

Can anyone confirm what cables I need to to stick or connect to the Vu+ box. I just watched a video on it box and has a plastic bag with bits and bobs in it do I need those _http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ye4pg_ZdUAM

Can anyone confirm what cables I need or any other parts - I guess they are about a £1 or 2 from auction site or amazn

Grateful for any help or pointers or help thread on here. Also once the drive is on the unit can I format the drive from the Vu+ menus.

Any help please, cheers again
ps I can take a picture of the drive if that helps

The UNO and Ultimo can take a 3.5" or 2.5" drive as the Cradle that is supplied inside the unit has 2 sets of fixing holes the Duo on the other hand can only take a 3.5" drive.

All screws and the SATA cable are supplied with your Uno should still be in the box, all you have to do is unscrew the cradle from your Uno attach the hard drive screw cradle back in and attach SATA and power cable to mainboard and Hard Drive, In the menu of the Uno which ever image you have should have a HDD sub menu in there you will see the Initialize HDD select this and let the Uno format the drive for you takes anything from 10-20 minutes.

Sounds like a 3.5". 5.25" is a CD/DVD sized drive. You need to know the type of drive (IDE, SATA, etc.) Needs to be SATA. You will know if it is the correct type by the plug on the end of the cable. Anything smaller than 500GB is going to be a pain if you record much stuff, especially HD. I've got a 2TB in my box that I bought in January and already has 1.2TB full up, even with constant deleting.
