With the April update.Windows 10 pro and enterprise now have a Virtual Machine.
To get it click start -Type Appwiz.cpl.
> enter. On left click turn windows apps on or off.
>Scroll down to Hyper v tick box.>Close .The program will install
>Reboot. The programs are in Windows Administrative tools in start.ATM I am doing my usual thing skittering around the settings trying this and that.I usually get there in the end.I have got a virtual W10 installed. It took a while to download the image.I did my usual thing took an image before installing Hyper v just encase.Once I have got it setup properly I will take another one. There are other ways to get there This is the way that I did it.

Mmm I knew it was coming I read about it a month back but opening mine I am a little confused as I seem to have two options
Virtual machine platform or Windows hypervisor platform
I assume you are suggesting the 2nd option?

Sorry had to go out.
Mine does show Hyper V.I think that the computer has to support 64 Bit.perhaps there are other restrictions too.

In System Configuration I've got various Hyper-V options, but all of them are stopped, not disabled, but not running, possibly due to features I've either turned off, or not allowed.

The W10 edition already in Quick Create is the Windows 10 enterprise Evaluation Edition with a 90 Day License.I decided to install my own copy of windows 10.I got it installed with not too much trouble.I could not get the internet working though.I was getting no internet connection.Trouble shooting told me that it was the wrong ip addy.It was looking for ipv6.nothing that I did could get it working. It looked like it was looking for WiFi even though I was on local network.Installed Windows 7 same problem.Went to bed cheesed off.
One thing that I knew, the VM cannot see the DVD drive.Though I did load w7 and w10 from iso's that I had on DVD, downloaded from MS some time ago.So even though the VM could not see the DVD Drive I still installed from DVD.That was the problem.
This AM a brainwave arrived. The VVM can see usb sticks and external HDD.I copied the W 10 Iso from the DVD to an internal HDD.Created a W10 VM from that drive.
Bingo my own activated W10 on the Virtual Machine.
Now to find the next problem.
That could be that I read somewhere that the VM was not persistent ie did not save any work done.It dose,if the same VM is started.I think that perhaps you have to create a new VM very time to have a clean install.I do not know if the word persistent is the correct term.It rings a bell though.
Edit I wrote this load of tosh at the pub for any inaccuracies I blame the cider.

Edit again.
I may be wrong about the VM forgetting previous work.I installed firefox .On a restart it was missing. It looks like a new install.More experimentation is required.:)

Fully updated now.
I don't know if something has changed or perhaps I used a duff DVD disc but the DVD works now.
