got just a 5 minute window ...on this transponder @ 66 East (Intelsat 17)

..just long enough to scan it in as a Tandberg Service ...and a minute or so to snap just one frozen image ..
But still its a coup for me on the TD88 ..with fluctuating signal levels ..

Thats persistance and dedication for ya ...
..or should that read Stubborn and Mental
;)

anyway here's the result snapped using a camera on the high gain F15

I know the feeling Llew ..
Normally beyond my reach ..but for some reason conditions are very favourable @ 66East atm ..
Aktau normally only available for an hour or so early evening at about 6 > 7db ....but has been solid reception at over 9db for most of the evening ...so figured I'd try Moskva 24

Very well done VS that certainly is quite a catch or should I say grabO-grab

Very, very nice. I really need to find a place with a better eastern view.

I actually did find a place on top of the hill, top floor apartment with a south facing balcony - east and west views as far as the eye could see. Sadly, was out of my budget :(

Maybe next time...

Hi friends ..
Sadly not very well atm ..but 66 East was very strong on saturday ..due to perfect reception conditions..
Open skies ..and a crisp clear night ..
Took adavantage to grab a couple more Mockba24 snaps ...and also pulled in another 2 Russian channels on 12596 H
tp RU2K

Nizhny Novgorod mux
DVB-S 6666-3/4

Rossiya 1 Nizhny Novgorod BISS 100 101 102 R

NNTV 500 501 502 R

Sadly no pictures to post as both were encrypted ...even though lyngsat reports NNTV as fta ...(the picture in the background doesn't relate to either channel)

Anyway despite my less than functional hands ...I had to grab some camera snaps ..
Sorry they aren't to clear...but still proof it's possible on a TD88

Now a little harder: :D
Moskva 24 popped up today in the late afternoon on Intelsat 20 @ 68.5 East.
11093 V 1024 3/4 QPSK
Same ID as before "Tandberg Service".
About 8.5 dB here with 100 cm.
Probably the very wide Russia beam, that covers Sakhalin to, well, UK?

Not a sausage on my 1m Gibby on 66e, Nothing on 11093V on 68.5. Theres lots of African stuff on 68.5 but no Russian, Not from what i can pickup anyway.

Nano

I had Mir @ 66E on Penta 85 but it came in waves. One second it was fine, the next, no signal at all.

Had a shot at 11093V 1024 on 68.5E signal about 5db with a 1.2 Gibby

@ zorbua, the poor signal in Malta would fit the Russia beam nicely (see footprint).
@ nano, on 66 East, Moskva 24 was long gone already (I should have mentioned that)!

11093V indeed is about 4 dB weaker than the Africans above 12.5 GHz.

Ah, 66 East, about the lowest my dish could reach then the fir tree a few houses away matured.

I promise to get the old 1.8m up and running for Christmas day. though the current hours (and workload - resulting in something similar to trenchfoot of the hands) currently prevents me from getting up on the roof.

Signals from 68.5 E have been quite robust on the TD88 over the last few days ..
_Some_ of the S african beams giving over 6db and lasting minutes before the fading effect kicks in.
No sign of anything from Mother Russia though.

Moskva 24 still there on 11093V though I think it's not on 24h.
Today just 7 dB. The bump in Crazyscan is so small I would normally ignore it!
Vipersan for comparison, data transponder 11547H 9700 is 10.3 dB, and the wideband African transponders above 12.5 GHz are 12 dB average.
