Wall blocking satellites, questions + measurments

What about lowering the wall?
probably easier than putting in a new pole.

The wall joins on to the back one wich is higher, so it would look a bit out of place.

I will have a think before i make any decisions but I dont mind moving the pole, its just if i dont get 26E then i have to move it back to get 7W again :(

You really need to walk around with a clinometer and a compass... Or go on dishpointer, zoom right in and put the dish in a few different positions and then see what the minimum heights of the obstacles are.

So is that 26degrees angled up? so if i got a long straight thing, metal bar or wood and held it at 26 degrees that would tell me?
 
Yes it would gary, a Digital angle guage comes in handy, if you haven't got an inclinometer.

Digging the hole isn't too bad, if you hire a breaker, makes short work of solid chalk.
 
I dont mind the hard work :)

was going to wait and see what happens with 7w but cant wait much longer i go away on the 24th for a week, get back 31st, 14 days before season starts
 
On dishpointer you can move the pointer down the green line and it tells you the maximum height the objects can be. Click the "show obstacle" option at the top right for this.

Check this... 7W the wall can be 2.2M!

26E the wall can be 1.3M... So erm yeh! theres the issue...

So say the wall is 2M... the bottom of the dish would need to be 0.7M off the ground correct?

Yeah that's it... Or, for example, for 26ºE, guessing an elevation angle of 26º for your location, if the wall is 2 meters high the satellite can be seen from ground level (dish rim touching the floor) when 4.1 meters from the wall.

How you securing/mounting the dish?
 
same as before but conntect a bracket to the wall and side of dish to stop wind play as its going higher up.

I need to dig the hole and move the pole next, and extend the pole to.
 
I'm sitting here wishing you every success: I've never encountered such doggedness in second-guessing where all the Footy will be so it would be such a shame if this doesn't work out!
 
Well i know 26E has all the channels mate.

So this is merely a test to see if i get 26E here, if I do I will stay at 26E.

If no signal I can go back to 7w.

I am leaving my other pole and mount there as I have a new mount for the dish. So if I must go back i just bolt back on and i have 7w :)
 
Yep, 26e should be an easy enough catch.
 
Im after badr6 tho, its quite tough in the UK although enough reports of reception south England so fingers are crossed

They're on Hotbird. You could get them with a mini dish.
