Wall blocking satellites, questions + measurments

its also strong in the morning(well badr 3/4 are) iv got an old 1.8m fortec star dish on 26e at the mo and 3/4 are booming in but nowt off 6 but i,v only got a std lnb on so not getting a true reading...darent take lnb off the 2.4 in case i fuack it up..lol..the 1.8 has also been battered about a bit so nowt to go off really...

my mates are coming back over later.

Although im locking/testing signals atm. the elevation adjuster bolt is bent to hell so god knows how im doing it!

Scanning 16E atm and slowly moving east so il see how i go, but i cant really adjust elevation so this is pure luck lol

cant do anything without being able to adjust elevation properly so mount needs changing, should be doing it tonight

I take it that you are slackening the bolts either side of the mount, so that when you adjust the fine adjustment it has freedom of movement?

If so then maybe? you would be better off using the larger mount with the 4.5 inch diameter pole, that is designed for that dish.

it was my fault i bent the bolt i didnt slacken off the other side so it was fighting it :(

Just lucky i have another mount!

going to have to get rolf round! i cant get anything past 19.2 but its probly my setup

I know was kicking myself when i realised!!

Atleast were back up and running now just gotta get rolf round as i have no meter!

As i said gary your dish is about a metre from your house wall the more you go east towards 28 you will get blocked by house wall, that i can clearly see to the left of your dish, and i think you missunderstood me when i said you would hit the wall, I meant the angle of your dish with it being at the rear of the building and about a metre from the wall when turned easterly will point into your house wall restricting your signal, hope im wrong but if you turn the dish to your most easterly possition and stand behind the dish you should see for yourself mate !!

But the dish in the pictures is at between 20/30East mate...

according to dish pointer il clear any walls between 53E and 5W in its current position?

Im confused how you think that 26E is going to hit a house?

Yes, a dish of that size is fairly tricky to adjust without practice, and the most likely culprit I would have thought, judging by the 23.5E dishpointer photo, and the fact that the dish is 1m away from the house wall anyway.

I can't see that. The green line towards 26ºE in post #68 is almost parallel with the house. Surely if you go a few more degrees east it will be firing into the wall. 26ºE looks good though.

Hmm im not sure, but I want 26E and 26E only and that like you say is parallel and just points straight forwards, also clears the wall and trees by a mile using the method posted in here! So hopefully rolf can come get me alligned up on friday and were test the signals!

Robbo, the green line is on 26ºE. The 23ºE relates to the obstacle checker which isn't pointing in quite the same direction as the green line.

You can see here it will clear not a problem on 26E :)

Ahh Ok Heavos.Cheers, that's cleared up that mystery. No way is it hitting the house wall then.

I wouldnt have spent 70 quid on concrete and a new pole if i was going to mount it not sure if it would clear :P that would be a waste of my time and money lol.

I made sure it would clear height, distance and position wise

Thanks Huvo5,

I did try to explain to gary, but he tends to ask the questions then answers them himself, we are here to help gary but it seems you have all the answers so i will keep out of this 1, the dishpointer is in a straight line on 26e and yes you will get it but, that pointer is a rough giude and cant tell that your dish is set back to the rear of your house and roughly a mtere from your house wall, so like i and Huvo5 said try going a few degrees east and i know you will hit the wall just by looking at your pictures, and as for you saying you wouldnt of put it there and spent £70.00 on concrete if you new it wouldnt work, well what happened to the original position and why have you had to move it , gary its not the knowledge of how it works , its the knowledge of getting it to work that counts, so save your concrete and get someone how knows instead of answering your own questions. Good luck mate!!!

But i dont understand what you mean? What i was saying is that the dish is pointing straight forwards at 26E so i dont see how the house is going to get in the way?

I really cant understand what you mean mate!

Dont mean anything against you. just abit puzzled.

I am a bit puzzled too gary, on your 1st post you said quote !! i cant anything past 19.e and thought the wall was blocking the signal, well you were probably right, and to add the trees wasnt doing any favours, so you asked advice on what to do to clear the wall for your (MOTORISED) system to work properley, and was given advice from various members including myself, now!! in its original position you could get 26e, so i if not all members thought you wanted to get as many satellites as possible, Not just 26e,
now you keep harping on that it clears 26e as it did before you moved it , So in leymans terms what i am saying is, you will not get anything more in my opinion past 28.2 ish east without the signal being diminished by going left towards the (house) wall, but if your happy on 26e i dont see why you have gone through all this time and money not too listen to some advice. are you still puzzled lol.
